Are they forcing queens to switch their lipsticks last minute? Or do people just feel that way because a huge fan favorite will make it onto a season? I am confusion Every season of Drag Race is cast with potential winners in mind and fillers, then its up to the queens to prove themselves otherwise. After all, if you have a cast of 13 'winner' queens, that's 12 fewer 'winner' queens you can cast in the future season. AS1 was pretty much a shoo-in for Chad and AS5 was for Shea. I think even AS2 and AS3 the 'top' queens were pretty predictable. EDIT: No shade but do u think Serena ChaCha really thought she had a shot at winning AS6, for example? Plus challenges can also be designed in a way for some specific queens to shine. Producers pick their favourites early on, and then curate the season in a way to have their ideal set of contestants at the top. Unless something odd happens like Dela quitting, or Valentina not knowing her lyrics, they usually get away with they have planned from the beginning. S13 really brought this to forefront with Symone and Kandy Muse, who never felt at threat even when in the bottom. Like @CyanDante if you're getting that protection the only way you're really at risk is if you mess up big time like Valentina did. Some queens go into it knowing that they've been cast to make it far, and it goes beyond having a "winner's attitude". Some go into it knowing they're filler.
