So far I'd say the only remix I'm having a bit of a hard time with is the Fun Tonight one. But some are almost superior to the original songs... I most definitely prefer this version of Replay over the album version (I'm waiting for your stones). And I have to say... Babylon Haus Labs does slap and is giving the original a bit of a run for its money... (Ok, slap me now) ROM Arca Remix is also pretty great tho I don't see it talked about much. I knew it would be more of proper and experiment remixes rather than what is currently known as remixes for the charts. And that’s ok. But some of the track didn’t work for me at all. I don’t know if remixes aren’t my thing or if these are particularly underwhelming. But SFA and Rain on Me were too bad. I still can’t take SFA serious, sorry. Was not a fan of Stupid Love and Alice versions either. Although, I kinda admire how they were able to completely change their vibes from the original. But I mean, specially Alice kinda lost its shine on the remix. My favorite ones were Free Woman and Plastic Doll (which is my least favorite on the original album). I love how Ashnikko killed it with the new versions and chorus addition. These two tracks could be easily added to the Chromatica in my opinion. Sour Candy was cute, I enjoy it but I am not sure if it did justice to the original. I guess the good thing is that we will have both of them to switch according to our mood. Replay was one of the tracks I was really scared of because I didn’t like the snippets from the clubs we had, but I ended up enjoying it. So I guess it was a good surprise As much as I adore Bree Runaway and was super excited for her remix, I just expected more. It’s definitely a fun track and I liked her rap but still sounded very similar to the original one and I wished she owned it like Charli XCX did on hers. I love that Pabllo brought her Brazilian sound to the table and made a mainstream superstar sing a rhythm that still has a lot of stigma and prejudice towards it, but kinda expected more too. Alice and SL: awful. 1/10 2/10 ROM: it's ok and experimental but I won't revisit it. 4/10 Free Woman: Wow now that's a great remix I expected. 8/10 Fun Tonight: As the title suggests, it sounds really fun and I like it! 7/10 911: Very different from the original one but in a good way. 8/10 Plastic Doll: Some sounds are noisy but overall an exciting experience. It will do better in dance clubs. 6/10 Sour Candy: richer sounds than the original one. Smooth but kinda boring/forgettable. 6/10 Enigma: a very typical and uninteresting dance-club remix. 5/10 Replay: with a rock-song vibe, it sounds fierce and unique. Not for everyone. 7/10 Sine From Above: I dislike every Elton part. Overall it sounds a bit rough and messy. 3.5/10 1000 Doves: it's smooth and cute but overlong and very boring. 4/10 Babylon (Bree): it sounds like an offical single. Great and proper production! 9/10 Babylon (HL): Really enjoy the background instrumental sounds! But vocal parts here sound dry. 7/10 Overall, it's a decent remix album. I was kinda expecting the leaked Babylon HL version that’s on YouTube with the “cmon”s - I still prefer that to this one.
