I mean, artists like Doja or even Lik nas X can easily top that with their weirdness and all the cgi.

that's why precisely, artists like doja and lnx are more about showing off special effects, cgi, great productions etc, and less about the messaging and the cinematic storytelling, it's like comparing marvel movies and blockbusters to the cinema of hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick

And why does everyone who disagrees with that thought get so triggered and defensive about a personal opinion? :deadbanana:

I happen to still think BR is her best video and u dont see me getting upset at those who disagree. Its not that serious :triggered:

But ... but... 911 isn't on your list.  I'm very upset.   Verrrrrrrry upset.

jk.  I agree that people shouldn't get triggered about personal opinion.

I live outside the space time continuum.

So what do the Armadillo shoes represent? :huntyga: she used to rely on shock a lot and she said this herself. And there's nothing wrong with that but BR is simply not shocking anymore and hasn't been for years. So i'm not sure it's still her best, especially when 911 gave us: interesting story and setting, beautiful visuals, message and replayability ( i had to watch it 10 times to get all the small details and connections).

I wanted to vote MTN but that one production guy / boom operator that was caught ina shot and not edited out irks me :bradley:

What scene is this?

Maybe it's intentional because she imagines herself as a star before she is one and edits her own memories to make life seem more glamorous than it is. Try to think of it like that anyway. It seems like a minor detail to let ruin one of your favorite music videos.

omg gaga's videos always used meaningful symbolism to tell stories just like the 911 video, you just have to be receptive, gaga partnered with mcqueen to literally make high art just as all his work is regarded to this day, you forget that the armadillo shoes are part of one of his most acclaimed collections, in the BR she uses them to represent her fully morphed from woman to an alien figure, a monster, trans-human, as she is being drugged and abused, you see before how her whole spine is poping out her body, for me representing the corruption shes suffering and also her transformation and rebirth.
The theme of the video is female emancipation, you hear the shout outs to Hitchcock, in all his films women are used as just mere objects to to fulfill the male protagonist purpose, and here it seems like it's going to happen the same, until the end...
Even the Razor Blade glasses represent tough female spirit as some of her friends in NY used to have razor blades hidden in the back of their mouths for self defence in case an ill intended man come close to them.

She never made art ONLY to shock people, she always had an intention behind and a story to tell with her fashion, music and videos.
