Donda ranking

I just read that Donda Chant repeats Donda's name 58 times because that's the age that she lived to, and the rhythm reflects her heartbeat before she passed :fatcat: :ohno:

I still need more time with the album to refine preferred tracks. I've been listening to CHVRCHES a lot more, which has given me less time to listen to Donda.

I can say that this is where my tentative album ranking list is:

Yeezus >
Kids See Ghosts >
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy >
Watch The Throne >
Donda >
808s & Heartbreak >
The Life of Pablo >
ye >
Graduation >
Late Registration >
College Dropout >
Jesus Is King

Donda seems to be a great but mid-tier Kanye album so far. For me it's 50/50 split between excellent tracks and ones I probably won't revisit much!

I loved this album! I have not listened enough to give a final ranking in Kanye's discography but this album is for me a 9-9.5/10. My favourites are so far Moon, No child left behind, Come To life, Jesus Lord and Believe what I say, which are all beautiful  And also great tracks like Off the grid, Jail, Praise God, Ok ok...

It's a long album but the only skip is the Pop Smoke track Tell the vision. I think the album could benefit from different order in tracklist or trimming it a bit and later having a deluxe with more tracks and remixes. On the other hand it's good he did not remove tracks, there could have gone all my favourites...

But yes I wish he will release music videos!!

Agree with all of this and love the songs you chose as favourites! Tell The Vision is my least favourite too.

A handful of tracks I think could have been cut and No Child Left Behind should definitely be longer.

My ultimate favourites are:

8. Hurricane

7. Off The Grid

6. Praise God

5. Ok Ok

4. Heaven And Hell

3. Lord I Need You

2. Jesus Lord

1. No Child Left Behind

Their placings could shift a bit. They're the only ones that I truly like. I'm glad to see there was a lack of anything truly bad (there was an overabundance of that in his last few albums). When his beats are good, they're so good. No need for the remixes at the end, though. If he likes these people enough, why can't he features them all on the song originally instead of replacing one with the other or adding a new one in later on? I think the religious stuff this time is more accessible than it was on the very gospel Jesus Is King. I still think Yeezus is his last good album but he's slowly getting it back. If this album were a relationship, it's status would be "it's complicated" as I have so many mixed feelings about it, hence why I think it came out with so many mixed reviews. But when he's good, I forget about the bad stuff. No Child Left Behind genuinely made me cry the first few times I heard it. Actual big tears filling up my eyes. No Kanye song has done that to me before and not many songs can do that in general. When a reaction can be that strong, he's still got something.

I like your review and track ranking. :)

I have mixed feelings too, and No Child Left Behind is a real stand out gem. There are quite a few tracks that I've loved since first listen and even more that are growing on me. When Kanye gets it right, it's brilliant. Some of the instrumentals especially are really emotionally moving.

Overall it's still a mid-tier Kanye album for me, but that's not bad at all when his discography is so great.
