Even if you dismiss basic human rights being denied because it’s “their culture” there is also the issue that the Taliban cannot and will not control the terrorist organizations that arise in Afghanistan. They did nothing to stop Al-qaeda when they trained terrorists and sent them to attack places in Africa, Europe, and the US. This is the reason the US invaded Afghanistan, because the Taliban refused to capture Osama bin Ladin and members of Al Qaeda. This isn’t just a “people of Afghanistan” issue, and many members of the UN agreed back in 2001 that Taliban Afghanistan was not providing the sovereignty it needed to provide.

Human rights are not culturally relative. Don’t start with that garbage.

This is a MESS. F*ck Biden :fthis:

Trump was an absolute disaster most of the time, but his foreign policy would have totally handled this situation better…..

Then we should allow and encourage those who want no part in their extremist culture to leave Afghanistan.

Such a ridiculous request from the Taliban. They just want people to stay so they can forcibly convert them or their children and strengthen their position. To hell with that.

You’re literally defending the subjugation and abuse of millions of women :oprah:

It has nothing to do with culture and everything to do with human rights. You can throw anything under the guise of culture or religion, that does not make it right.

The Taliban freed several thousand prisoners, bomb makers, and terrorists when the Afghan military gave up without a fight and the Afghan elected officials ran off and hid. The Taliban has admitted that was a mistake to free the prisoners.

The retaliation against the terrorists will be targeted at the terrorist network instead of against Taliban or government, sounds like. These terrorists were not government sponsored as far as we know. Benefit of the doubt on that.

But the Taliban is going to have to put their people in uniforms and expect them to operate within a set of rules. These random guys with guns in street clothes are guerella fighters not a legitimate military or police force. The new regime is a mess and none of it is the responsibility of the USA to fix/fight, imo.

:trollga: when your culture(s) infringes upon basic human rights your culture(s) needs to be broken regardless of origin.

Basic human rights should be guaranteed in any place despite that place's culture. It's not imposing our culture, it's more about aspects of our culture that sadly are fairytales in many parts of the world like giving children the chance to go to school, giving women the right to access to healthcare system and not letting them die when they suffer any disease, and I could go on and on... And let's not begin with allowing (or even supporting) terrorist actions against innocent civilians only for living their lives freely and different from what a book over a thousand years old tells to live
