Man, I'm outie. This has been an incredibly depressing experience. The medical system, especially in the US, leaves so many people behind to suffer on their own. Sucks that y'all are gloating about how cruel the world is, instead of doing the bare minimum to make it an easier place to live (being open minded, having empathy, and basic kindness).

Suddenly I believe Cancel Culture really is a problem lol

I don't know him at all, I just hate bullying in the name of celebrity worship and I have my own health problems that i have relied on crowdfunding to help with before, so it is an especially sore spot to see people be so heartless

I don't think most of you guys understand the gravity of this. This is going to be a stain on Gaga's reputation for the rest of eternity unless he sets the record straight, which he just doesn't seem willing to do. Every act of kindness she's ever done and will ever do will mean nothing in the eyes of the public because she will forever be known as the heartless **** who tossed the poor guy who took a bullet for her dogs to the curbs.

Well in that case I am sorry that what I have said in this thread may have contributed to your own experience negatively.

I sure am :vegas:

I'm not "defending" Gaga though, I simply don't buy what that guy says.

But then again it doesn't matter anyway because the end result is the same :ohwell:

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

He got shot in the chest. Maybe he needed physiotherapy and maybe it was expebsive, maybe his insurance was unwilling to cover other aspects of recovery that were costly. And as someone pointed out, he raised $8000 the first time around. Medical stuff can be expensive, especially when you are unable to work. For example, I recently calculated the cost of various medical procedures I need (dentist for wisdom teeth removal & check up, diagnosis from a psychiatrist for my executive dysfunction, seeing an endocrinologist, and a therapist) and the cost was over $6000. And I live in Canada where the government partially covers certain things. I have not experienced something physically and mentally traumatic and I am capable of working, and this is still an overwhelming cost.

Not to mention his car (a van from 91, so hardly a luxury vehicle) broke down.

And once again, the implication that he blames or is bitter towards Gaga is all in your heads.

I greatly hope that none of you will ever have to struggle like this and be so cruelly picked apart.

We know for a fact Gaga covered the entirety of his medical expenses. Him implying that about Gaga, whether intentionally or not, it's not only in our heads simply for the fact that news sites also interpreted the message in the same way: as a subtle and indirect shade to Gaga. I'm sympathetic to his struggles, but I'm also very skeptical about his way of handling things. I can think of a lot of alternative ways to tell his story without endangering Gaga's rep the way he did.

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Exactly... She's paid his medical bills. This has been said over and over in this thread so to keep using it in Ryan's defense is just BS.

I really think Gaga is going to be very hurt over this and probably pissed the hell off.  At this point in her life I think she can take a lot of criticism - whether it's fair or not - she can get past it easily without losing sleep over it, but this is about her as a person, not a pop star or a celebrity. It's also about loyalty and trust and if that's broken I'm not sure Ryan will even have a job to come back to once he is finished his journey.

Time will tell.

Y'all are seriously so judgement and willing to see the worst in people. I related to his post a lot because I literally gave away hundreds of dollars during the pandemic to various causes and ppl who were struggling while I was unemployed. It's not necessarily a brag or manipulation, it's just being up front with why one might be struggling financially.

Idk the reaction to this has genuinely been so bizarre to me, I am not someone who is overly naive. In general I am sceptical and critical and proud of it, it has landed me in hot water multiple times. But some of the ways people have responded to this genuinely seems so twisted and insane to me. Life is hard, life is especially hard when something traumatic happens, we are not all saving money just in case we get shot in the chest one day. You don't know what therapy he has tried, you don't know what is emotional or medical needs are. These harsh character judgments based on a sliver of a detail feels so out of line to me.

I have considered leaving this website many times due to general bigotry, ignorance and cruel behaviour. But this is first time it has genuinely been overwhelming.

I'm not saying anyone should give him money or that he deserves money or that he is a 100% innocent angel, but the total lack of empathy and pure and total willingness to jump on a random person and decide the absolute worst things about their character because they are someone who is struggling is truly shocking.

Are you really that surprised? Gaga paid for his medical bills. He knew damn well what him putting out this garbage would do to Gaga's image and he did it anyway for money and attention. I'm sorry he was shot I am not sorry that he is now using the situation as a golden ticket. Also if a forum on the internet is causing you to feel "overwhelmed" the internet might not be for you.

But we know he has been taken care of medically (and I'm sure Gaga also pays for a psychologist or anything else mental health related) and we all have empathy for what happened to him. (at least I have cuz I can only speak for myself)

But just because something bad happened to him doesn't mean people cannot criticize his actions ever again. Nobody is bullying him and he should do his journey - and it's also ok to do a fundraise - it is just the way he spoke about it - he could've communicated this in any other way to not make Gaga look lowkey like an evil person - and people would've still donated. That is basically it and the way he made a 2nd post showed that he kinda noticed all the bad comments.

There are quite some people who have had very very horrible things happen to them (for instance both my parents) and they had to fight hard to get medical treatment too. Everyone who struggles deserves help and empathy.

I think some are just picking up on some inconsistencies, because it's been confirmed that Gaga has covered/is covering Ryan's medical expenses

People often aren't just good or bad, as much as social media would have you believe, and someone with a good heart who has been thru a trauma can also do something a little shady.. people are complex
