i kind of agree, but this one was Jazz, rock, country, pop, dance, 🥲

i would have loved something that mimicked gaga’s rise through go go dancing and cabaret into the 2008  pop landscape, but that would have been too obvious.

bravo ASIB

Why do all the prehistoric ladies always have something to say regarding Gaga/her projects?

She’s entitled to her opinion but was this really necessary to say? No, stay humble love. Why can’t legends just be like Elton John who embraces new artists and supports their work.

Why can't legends be like who?

OT: I don't personally agree with her, but she's allowed to have an opinion. Some people in this thread need to get off her back.

Why is she talking about originality? Lol story wise it's the same movie, I am pretty sure Gaga made this movie her own especially since she played the piano in the movie if we are gonna talk instruments like miss Barbra mentioned.

It's an unnecessary dig at the movie. It's not like Barbara's version was any different from the other ones.

I see her point, but I strongly disagree.

Yes, the 2018 one is definitely closest to the 1976 one than it is to the 54 and 37 versions, but unoriginal is strong word for a FOURTH version of the same movie. Her version was the most "original" one, but was also the most negative received by the critics, so not much to brag about on her side.

I love Barbra and LOVE the soundtrack of ASIB '76 tho, and I know she respects Gaga and her comments were not directed to her (since she didn't do the script but instead the music and acting). I just wish she worded this a lot different, 'cause it seems like she's implying that Beyoncé should've done it instead, which I don't appreciate.

It definitely would have been interesting with Beyoncé. But I feel like Beyoncé’s acting is not that great and it would have been panned by critics.

I do hate the trope that pop music is lesser than singer-songwriter music that showed in the script but it was a great movie and a great way for Gaga to start her acting career.

Let's not, Elton John has been nothing but supportive of Gaga and has helped so many upcoming artists and gave them advice dealing with fame.

Not trying to come for Elton, just pointing out double standards. Both Barbra and Elton had a not so positive opinion on something Gaga has worked on, and that's fine. That doesn't mean they're not humble or are secretly jealous of her-- It's just an opinion.

If she cares so much about originality wouldn’t she not support the film being remade in the first place? 🤔 I never saw the previous versions but they’re remakes so they’re all going to have the same general premise.

Well Barbra's version was the wrong idea too, not her fault either but I'm glad that Bradley gave us a decent version of that.

She was asked about it and gave her opinion.  I wouldn’t even be surprised if she talked to gaga about it.

She's not saying it was bad, or criticizing Gaga's acting or something, don't come after her. She's just saying it was similar to her version, and that she'd wish it was more innovative. Sh*t up and move on. We know Gaga and Streisand have a good relationship. Gaga even said they talked about her role and Streisand gave her some advice.

Ugh ASIB directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Beyoncé will always be my biggest wish that never happened. I mean, Clint waited for her 'cause she was pregnant but then she dropped from the project after giving birth and Clint decided to drop too.

Anyways, I have never seen Barbra's version, I LOOVE Judy's one and my problem with Gaga's version is that the passing seems too fast.
