It is a common occurance that black men get (wrongly) accused of rape by white women, so much that it had even become a trope in mainstream media (in the early 20th century there was entire subgenre of romantic/erotic novels that fantasized about virile black men raping white women, most of these books were written by white women novelists for an audience of other white women who wanted to indulge in "taboo" fantasies about interracial sex)

Nicki alleging that the victim was a white woman was deliberately done to discredit the accusation of rape itself, it was done to specifically liken the accusation to that specific stereotype/media trope. She's maliciously using the plight of actual black men who got wrongly accused of being rapists (due to racism) to her own personal benefit and to the benefit of her actual rapist husband, because she is mildly inconvenienced by him being a registered sex offender.

well obviously it wasn’t talked about day in and day out but as a collaboration it’s the responsibility of the artist to know who they’re collaborating with. so it was known if you googled beyond 5 minutes about r kelly but it wasn’t thrown out daily on twitter.

Very widely known actually, if it his illegal marriage to 15 years old Aaliyah, the first accusation that was settle for a big amount of money and then in the early 2000s the second accusation, which had a video of him so he couldn’t lie, that led him to court, it was all over the news, but he was not guilty at the end because the girl didn’t want to testify in court, so everybody took a deep breath, closed their eyes and moved on like nothing happen, Harvey-like situation.. 

Anyway, back to Nicki.. I don’t understand why people are surprised, where have you been all these years? One bop and you forget everything?

Jimmy Iovine hired him to play at his wife's  birthday party even after that collab and it was attended by tons of A list including Oprah and Gayle King. He didn't become persona non grata for a long time.

Gaga works in an industry heaving with disgusting abusers. The odds of her never working with any of them is preposterous. She spent a few hours around an individual and has being held to ransom about it ever since, even after apologising and deleting their collab.

It's so easy to sit here in 2021 and claim that anyone associated with R Kelly did it knowing he was a rapist. Personally I think that's BS. It's a different time now where these accusations spread like wildfire. It wasn't like that in 2013 or whenever it was. And even if these rumours were around, it was much more "innocent until proven guilty" v "one whisper and your name trends and you're "cancelled". 

Nobody will ever convince me that Gaga knowingly and willingly worked with a rapist.

The Aaliyah illegal marriage and the 1998 and 2002 cases were not rumors, but on going cases on the news.

In her defense, she was a teenager so these kind of news can split away, I guess she was not that into R&B music like me at that time, but I followed the news as a teenager very closely.

I’m pretty sure even Gaga herself said that she knew working with R. Kelly for that song was wrong and that it reflected how twisted her mental state was at the time. Don’t infantilize her to blindly defend her, she herself admitted to her mistake, the fans should as well instead of trying to excuse her.

I wasn't talking about the Aaliyah marriage though*. I'm specifically referring to his treatment and rape of young girls, which was really only whispered about in certain blogs at that time. 

*that was inexcusable but again literally nobody blacklisted him for that. Which says a lot about how messed up things were back then but I'm not going to hold Gaga accountable for that. Things have changed a lot.
