Don't have a meltdown if House of Gucci doesn't perfrom extremely well

As you know, there's still a pandemic going on. Big studios like disney have released movies like "Black Widow" that didn't perform as well as planned. They made big numbers during the first week but then dropped, that's because marvel fans went to the cinema on the first week and after that eveyone who really wanted to see it had already seen it. Some people are still not able to go to the cinemas or just don't feel like going during the pandemic. 2021 is not going to be a good year for cinema box office, maybe if things get well enough by the end of the year this changes.

I just felt like saying this before some of you get a meltdown if HOG doesn't match your expectations in terms of "success".

I don't think people is expecting to do well in terms of numbers but rather for it to be critically acclaimed :vegas:

I mean I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't do well either way, critically or by tickets sold. I think people are inherently cynical of performers trying new mediums. It does look good though, and the actors are on point. Fingers crossed.

This, I'm not expecting it to be huge in numbers, but I am expecting it to be critically acclaimed

I wouldn’t be surprised if it pulls in less than $100M. The film industry has basically collapsed and only big blockbuster type films are seeing some level of success. Don’t even sweat it.

REALITY

Box office-wise, it's definitely not doing well. That's not the movie's fault though. Almost every movie at the box office has been doing poorly.

Critically, it could go either way. I could see this movie either getting like a 90+ on Rotten Tomatoes or somewhere in the 50s-60s.

Magic Mike

I’m not worried about box office but sorry I’m really not a big fan of Ridley Scott. I think it will be Gaga mostly supporting the quality of this film. He has another movie presenting in Venice Film Festival so I’m worried they somewhat know HOG is not candy for critics…

Chromatica Island

It'll be a cult classic in the fandom, but Gaga will win another Oscar.

I'm less worried about Gaga's rep as an actress and moreso hoping this film does well by Ridley Scott. Prometheus and Covenant damaged his image. If he gets a boon from this, maybe he'll feel up to giving us another Alien film :bradley:

Beyond that, it's exciting to finally see Gaga in a role that isn't just "Lady Gaga but kinda different".

:huntyga: Miss gurl most of us in the nom-informed GP have no clue who Ridley Scott is and wtf those movies are.

The public is gonna see LADY GAGA, ADAM DRIVER, BIG BUDGET, GUCCI!!! and screams “YASS QUEEN TAKE MY POPCORN MONEY”. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

I got drunk
