imnotyourbabe10 6,120
We do what we can on a micro-level. But I’m still so existentially sad. Hope to have my partner and I just ride out life together at this point.

RahrahWitch 6,985
The way we have the means to switch almost entirely to renewable energy but we don't because money The saddest thing of all is even now when we need leaps to limit the damage we've done it's all going to be just baby steps. GagaSine 7,464
Genuinely considering applying for assisted su*cide tbh, this world is too painful to live in. I am too sensitive, I have tried to shut off that part of my brain in the past but it's just too difficult... like every layer of my life is horrible and I hate that nothing tangible is being done to better the world, it's all performative half measures while wildfires destroy people's homes and draughts cause crops to fail and people to starve. Meanwhile Dubai has a swimming pool on top of a skyscraper. What a sick joke our society is.

Guest
For those feeling numb about climate change, there is a very informative article how climate deniers will disappear bc cooperations are switching their strategies to so-called inactivism : https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/climate-deniers-shift-tactics-to-inactivism/

And no one is going to mobilize the public to do that until it's too late and people are rioting over access to clean water.

monster4life231 4,304
Yes, governments and exploitative cooperations must take most of the responsibility. However, things will not change if people do not change. There is no point in saying "oh well, it's not my problem, it's them that caused it", because that attitude will not change anything; the Earth will continue to be destroyed. Societies need to mobilise, wherever and whenever possible, against governments and cooperations and push for real change. Change is not going to come from the top of society downwards. Real change can only be pushed from below, and that means it will be the responsibility of all of us to do something. We can all play our part. Recycling is great, switching to electric is great, but in the bigger picture, those at the top will continue as usual. If we don't mobilise together in an attempt to completely destroy the status quo, then I do fear about the future of life on this planet. This isn't an exaggeration. Our very existence is threatened. spread peace - #MJInnocent

The truth is that there is no "point of no return" as Prof. Jochem Marotzke from Max Planck Institute, Germany said today on national television. He is one of the lead authors of the new IPCC report and he said that he genuinely does not stand behind the term "point of no return" because "it is always worthwhile to prevent further warming" than to resign. source: (it's German) https://www.google.at/amp/s/amp.zdf.de/nachrichten/zdf-morgenmagazin/klimawandel-kein-point-of-no-return-waldbraende-hitze-100.html
