There is still so much fake news and stigma regarding HIV/AIDS prevalent amongst society even in the LGBT+ community. HIV/AIDS should be talked about more and people should be taught. in my country anything remotely sex related is a taboo. and in schools we are taught about male and female biology in 12th grade. yes thats right. and before that the only source of learning is self teaching through internet. 11th and 12th here are pre-med years. i was in pre-med when i learned that having HIV does not mean you have AIDS, and how there are treatments for HIV that make its viral load undetectable. how did i learn that, myself. why because the teacher comes in class with a topic like this and says 'you all can learn it from your books' and thats it the stigma around HIV/AIDS and homosexuality should also be talked about. why is it more prevalent is homosexuals and not their hetero counterparts. its not that difficult. it comes down to biology and lack of awareness and social care there is also this mainstream factor. i am watching the white lotus and (spoiler alert) in episode 2 a character learns from his uncle that his father did not die from cancer but from AIDS and he had another life outside his family where he slept with men. and i have seen countless other shows and movies where a homosexual died from AIDS complications. and tho they are trying to send a message to raise awareness, but not everyone is going to bed that night after the movie or show and search for this disease. I hope the exit is joyful and i hope never to return.

Even today where HIV/AIDS isn't the mark of death it was was in the 80s/90s, its still a huge taboo topic due to the extremely effective smear campaign that governments instilled during the initial 'pandemic'. A lot of people still think of it as GRID. From memory, HIV/AIDS is increasing in the 'exclusively has sex with opposite gender' groups (according to Wikipedia in the UK just under 50% of ongoing diagnoses are LGBT+ individuals) and the WHO projects that cases will soar with the loosening of COVID restrictions around the world (along with the rise of other STIs). Sexual health is something that everybody needs to take seriously
