No I am not, I am not excusing his actions and behavior, it is horrible, what I am trying to say is that the only way the world can move forward is by educating people. What are YOU resolving by just disregarding yourself of him? NOTHING. He’ll just go back to being an a*s. We must help the world change in order to STOP these lives being taken. Your ‘solution’ is not a solution. And it is our responsibility, if we don’t do it who will? And you know nothing about these ignorant people, you don’t know what made them have these awful beliefs. Their background, past, environment, etc, there are so many factors that come into play as to why someone is the way they are and not everything is that someone’s fault. Again, this is NOT an excuse, it’s an explanation. A big difference there. Maybe you did not see my other reply on the matter but here it is. I hope it paints a better picture of what I am trying to say.

I believe that people can be misinformed and talk out of ignorance, I know we believe that it’s easy to stay educated in today’s time because of the internet but the truth is that not everybody can stay on top of everything, not everybody is surrounded by lgbtq+ people, black people, etc to actively, everyday, be confronted by the challenges they face in the society, some people just don’t know as much as we internet kids do, care to know ( maybe they heard something one time and took it as just that and thought it was the truth ), etc. It’s not that black and white here either, it’s not just as simple as ‘it’s 2021 you have bo excuse’... no, some people are still very much ignorant due to many circumstances and they deserve to be educated and kindly informed. Now, with that being said, he was very much unresponsive to being educated at the beginning, was co*ky about it, rude, disrespectful and defensive when initially called out so this just reads as a last attempt at saving his career now that literally everybody is pretty much done with him. It’s fake and it’s not about him needing education, that was offered to him initially but he dismissed it and kept on being an a*s so... bye gurl, reflect on yourself truthfully and maybe we’ll talk 

p.s. I don’t believe in getting rid of people or giving up on them even when they are extremely in the wrong, it doesn’t make the world a better places, I believe in helping them work towards change because you don’t know why they are the way they are, we are complex being and just ‘cancelling’ someone forever does not help the world, we need to constantly keep on trying to help the ones in the wrong. So I personally could forgive him and give him another chance if he truly changes and realizes one day how hurtful he has been.

I am NOT victim blaming, I am looking for a solution. Yours is not, yours is the easy way out, hating back, you don’t fight evil with evil. That has done nothing for the world until now and won’t moving forward. So lets be good. I am not saying there shouldn’t be consequences for these actions but canceling, hating and throwing people away forever is not IT either.

His publicist or PR person wrote an almost nice and believable apology, too bad DaBaby not only double down when he was first reprimanded he showed he only did it backhanded.

But I will say he's right when the GP expects an artist or public figure to change overnight. That's impossible. We at the end of day are all humans who get our brain wired ever since we're born, changing takes time, years to fully change. Even us from the community even tho we're gay we still have some internalized homophobia and/or misogyny. So yeah, not defending him at all, just trying to understand.

Do I believe him? No. I don't.

However, I think people need to take apologies for what they are, rather than criticize the circumstances that lead up to them. For a lot of people, consequences need to happen and they need to deal with the repercussions for the things they do or say in order for them to apologize.

It's sad that he "apologizes" for his behaviour and believes just when it starts to threaten his career.

 

On the other hand, it's amazing to see how much power and support the LGBTQIA+ community has achieved in just 10 years. Could you imagine 10 years ago, no newspaper, no event or celebrity would care if this community was mentioned with HIV/AIDS in a sentence.
