Gaga was going to be part of Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony

So, apparently and according to IGN, some plans with Nintendo were pulled out from the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony including Lady Gaga wearing a red Mario hat and heading down a warp pipe.  I know it sounds weird af, but considering this is a reliable source in entertainment, I think maybe it was planned at some point
