I have this impression that (assuming the movie is not bad) they’d like to hold it off for a while to not lose steam easily. This kinda happened with ASIB back then.

The favoritism for anyone this early into the Oscar race is usually just bandwagon, I'm not criticizing the actors, just pointing out that Goldderby/Awardswatch folks should not be taken seriously. The internet had us convinced at some point that Carrie Mulligan would do a clean sweep in all 5 major award ceremonies with PYW. Mulligan finished the race with a Critic's Choice and was left out of BAFTA nominations. Now they pretend Frances McDormand was the clear favorite from the start, it's like that every year.

The moment someone gets a SAG/BAFTA, they'll be the new favorite.

Now I'm getting worried. Apparently only social reactions are coming next Tuesday, not reviews. The longer MGM waits to lift the embargo, the more nervous I get...

There’s literally 3 weeks to go lol relax

It's not about avoiding negative reactions all the time. Gucci's release date is still weeks away, so it makes sense to lift the embargo close to the release date, so that it drives the momentum and excitement for the movie. Spencer got its wide release today, and lifted their embargo on the release date as well, even though we pretty much knew it was getting that universal acclaim.

Spencer premiered in Venice on Sep 03, and the first reviews were posted on Rotten that very same day. So, they didn't lift the embargo on the release date that is today.

I have a feeling critics will be divided on this one, some will love it while others will despise it

but the public will be generally more positive about it :oprah:

My bad then, I hadn't seen the reviews. It makes sense since it already premiered at a film festival.

For what it’s worth, I know a few people who attended the screening at the Academy Museum. From the people I’ve heard from, they really enjoyed the film and said the entire night was extremely fun.

If the momentum continues, things could be looking good for its award chances.

The "good" one is just this mass asking their opinion on the movie. The disgusting one are the kiddos who attack the critics just cuz they did their job and made, guess what, a critic. Gaga's not perfect, she can have negative critics

With Spencer's negative reactions from audience , if some PR stuffs go wrong, I don't think she could get that win tbh. She has many problematic behaviors in the past, with subject as sensitive as the Royal Family, you can bet some **** storm might happen in this campaign season.

some lms will never be smart about that kinda thing

when you see something negative, you don't engage and make others see it and you just spread the positive ones  :saladga:
