I don’t think she’s going to repeat 21. Remember what she said? She has a thing for Trilogies 👀

She was talking about naming albums, this is about the theme

There's a big difference in the quality of 21 to 25 though. 25 was full of filler that nobody remembers. If it hadn't had the usual OTT hype around Adele it would have flopped. People trashed ARTPOP but look at the way its perceived almost a decade on. As ahead of its time and under appreciated. I think its more rewarding for artists when their work has longterm impact, v being completely forgettable.

disagree about the filler. sure there’s a few too many ballads but there’s some really good tunes on 25. hello, love in the dark, i miss you, all i ask, when we were young and water under the bridge were all very good and not “completely forgettable.”

of course there will be a struggle to follow up the biggest album of the century. the stuff she did on 25 was still good even if it didn’t reach the same delirious heights as 21.

Her album has been done for a while, but she postponed it until Covid settled down.

She just went through a divorce- of course she wrote about it.

Speak for yourself - 21 may be the "superior" album, but 25 meant a LOT to me and many others, and some of her best songs are on that album. When We Were Young, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Hello... honestly I would list almost the whole album but then I'd get side eye from y'all lol :messga:

I think it's interesting you bring up ARTPOP because I think it has a lot in common with 25 (minus the immediate success). Both were follow ups to HUGE albums, and people who felt disappointed by them decided to trash them as a full-time hobby when in reality both were (and are) fantastic albums.

My point is: just because you SAY it's full of filler does mean it actually is :ohwell:

You can't say 25 got the same trashing as ARTPOP. 25 played it safe to the point of tedium, people might never have listened to it again after the first time but they weren't taking to forums to say her career was over. It was just... there. ARTPOP was a risk/experiment. But at least people didn't forget it. I'm glad you liked it but I literally never hear anything from it, maybe Hello bc it's a meme. I like Send my Love and when we were young (bizarre writing that at 25 though) well enough but they didn't exactly remain memorable. I'm not saying it's a terrible album, just a boring one and I don't think it did much for Adele's career. People might not like some of Gaga's albums but nobody can deny that they brought her onto the next era while showing a different side of her/facet of her talent.

Queen Gloria

I was hoping for something different. Maybe a bit more upbeat and a bit of a dance edge to it. Does she always have to do depressing ballads? I love Adele, but come on, girl. Throw in a few bangers and lighten the mood a bit.
