Before anyone freaks out, norovirus is just a stomach/intestinal virus that last for no longer than 72 hours and involves puking and sh*tting your guts out :bear:

It is in no way comparable to COVID-19, severe illness is extremely rare, and you can avoid it by washing your goddamn hands and using hand sanitizer :triggered:

Wasn't the coronavirus enough warning to be hygienic? :triggered:

Also, that pic of the guy sitting dramatically in a chair :air:

This is pretty sensationalist tbh. Wash your hands and stay home if you don't feel well. There, problem solved :laughga:

This is my problem with the news outlets, they know damn well that they're gonna scare people with this when they are already stressed tf out. Not everyone knows that norovirus is mostly not dangerous.  :saladga: doom scrolling click bait

The way I put 5 kilos of sanitizer on my hands when I read this :bear:

But anyway, from the CDC website:

You can get norovirus by accidentally getting tiny particles of feces (poop) or vomit from an infected person in your mouth.

This can happen if you

eat food or drink liquids that are contaminated with norovirus,

touch surfaces or objects contaminated with norovirus and then put your fingers in your mouth, or

have direct contact with someone who is infected with norovirus, such as by caring for them or sharing food or eating utensils with them.

Meaning it's in no way comparable to the coronavirus. Just wash your hands and stay clean and hygienic (aka the minimum you can do as a human being alive in the year of the lord 2021)

Also, this is the stomach flu that goes around every year. In college, I would always research the norovirus season because I had/have a fear of throwing up. It usually has high numbers in dorms, cruise ships, and daycares, which is why the numbers from last year pale in comparison.

Well, that's not surprising. My best friend works in child care / a kindergarten and has told me that as soon as the kids returned after the lockdown all kinds of gastroenterological diseases came up super quickly! It's necessary for humans to keep the immunsystem busy and trained.
