It’s a shame she didn’t have Scooter  also low key her music was never interesting or unique enough imo. Ariana’s music, whether you like it or not, has been pretty distinctive for the most part and that distinctiveness was pushed by her very unique and supremely talented voice.

sure she had songs written for her but she did some really interesting things with it (within the scope of pop music lol she didn’t reinvent the wheel but her vocals, like Beyoncé, made standard pop tunes sound totally ownable to only her). Helps also that her character on Nick was nothing like her persona in music. She kind of lucked out they gave her that red hair and idiot’s personality because it gave a lot of room for Ariana the singer to shine whereas Victoria was someone we saw a lot of and her music persona wasn’t as distinctive from it.

A good portion of Ariana's popularity is down to what happened in Manchester. Y'all can fight me but before that she really wasn't popular outside of her core fanbase/nickelodeon   She would have a very different career if that tragedy hadn't happened.
