Personally I think a mix of both capitalism and socialism with a heavier lean towards socialism would be the best way forward. Agree I think Capitalism is fine in the sense of having private companies and ideas and the freedom for individuals to try and create goods and services and run it. Governments tend to suck at resource allocation for this kind of thing and tend to overstaff and have cost overruns to accomplish the same tasks that private companies do because private companies whatch their bottom lines and are more careful to not waste resources But then where government can do more is have the safety nets in place, social and infrastructure investments not to mention a less corrupt and more fair tax system... also well thought out regulations In a perfect utopia wed have communism but i dont think the governments are competent enough to run a system that big well nor do i think enough people are selfless enough to put others ahead of themselves for a system like that to work
imnotyourbabe10 6,120
Not trying to stir the pot or contribute to the mess, but I'm here for a critique of capitalism -- even if we have to participate in it to survive. Nothing to lose but our chains! Consumption is the new opium of the masses (Marx said religion was the opium of the masses -- well, it arguably still is in many respects). Even Engels had some feminist leanings in his work on division of labor.

Sorry but monopolies are never a good thing. With competition the prices aren't getting too high, because in monopoly you can decide to make everything hella expensive which obviously is a bad thing.
