Rj Barker 3,331 Posted June 28, 2021 Share Posted June 28, 2021 Fewer than one in a thousand Covid-19 infections are now resulting in death, according to calculations by statisticians in Cambridge. Thanks to vaccinations the infection fatality rate of the disease, a measure of the ratio of infections to deaths, is about 0.085 per cent, the Medical Research Council (MRC) biostatistics unit at Cambridge has estimated. Among those aged 75 and over, it has plummeted from more than 15 per cent of those catching coronavirus dying at the height of the winter wave, to under 2 per cent now. This is great news. It shows vaccines are proving to be very effective against delta too! It's also been confirmed today by our health secretary that all legal restrictions will be lifted on July 19th. It's amazing. Are u getting issues with vaccine hesitancy yet? We started to stall once we hit 72%... now were at 77% and that extra 5% took forever cuz everyday its going up by only like 0.2% Were still making like 500,000 to 600,000 shots a day but only cuz of 2nd shots. Seems like that last 20% of people are gonna be hard to convince Were not as bad as in USA but we definitely got some antivaxxers too and misinformed skeptical individuals as well (like my mom ) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I dont think were gonna hit 90% unless we get some very serious incentives tbh on the bright side, the acceptance of vaccines is higher among old population which is more vulnerable... 77% is an average but for people over 80 its over 90% already So since the antivaxxers are disproportionately young ppl then hopefully we shouldnt have an overrun on ICUs if theres another outbreak woth delta... i hope Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
