Scooter has burned his reputation (no pun intended) within the music industry and idk how people can still look at him and think what he did and still is doing is ok...

Taylor is an example to anyone who wants to be in this business...READ YOUR CONTRACTS and never sign a 360 deal...

Sometimes the end justifies the means. She wanted to work professionally as a singer, that contract was her opportunity to do so. A person's mind and perspective changes over the years, you know?

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

I’m obviously a Swiftie on here, but you guys are acting like this wasn’t entirely a business related decision in the beginning. It’s clear he saw more money in keeping the songs than selling them to her.

At first, definitely. She has one of the most bankable discographies of the twenty first century easily. Selling her discography back would’ve been stupid if he cares about business.

What he definitely didn’t anticipate was Taylor completely sinking his investment by just re-recording all her music again. I genuinely think that neither him nor Scott thought she would do something like that, so they probably thought they would get a quick online lashing from Taylor and her fans and be fine. But she declared war and is winning.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

This is very interesting. He doesn't cares if my faves make money. That sounds good.
I kind of knew that something is wrong with Taylor's story.

The last part about not caring if his clients make money is actually true.
Look at Carly Rae Jepsen, she is with him since 2012 and she had only 1 huge hit.

It's all a business, on both sides. It was business when Taylor first signed that deal. It was business when she then became famous. It was business when they fell apart and Scooter bought the masters and it also was business when Taylor then decided to go with a "f--k you" move instead of signing an NDA. So it's not like any of them are pitiful victims, really.

I mean, TS has become VERY smart in business over the years, and I wouldn't expect any less from her.

Since I do not like Scooter Braun, and since he is a male person in the music business, I can't say anything good for him, though. The best I could say is that he's simply doing business and not caring about anything else, which is smart too, until you try to do that to an industry giant like TS.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

i disagree. for tay, it was about asserting agency over her artistic and personal integrity. she didn't sign that nda because it was insulting to her character, to who she was. she was not going to sign away her very self. she stated many times that she is her songwriting and music. this "business only" perspective should not be accepted as normative behavior. there are, arguably, more important aspects to relationships, including transactional ones: being kind and humane, for instance (we are on a gaga forum, after all, so these values cannot be overemphasized enough).

Oh, I definitely, 100% agree with this. If you ask me, down with the capitalism anyway. I just think that a "humane" business practice, with the amounts of money we are talking about, is not possible under a capitalist system. Like, f**k scooter otherwise :poot:
