I’m getting so tired of seeing this attention seekers name on this site.

This froyo thing was so extremely dumb, I can't... They are so egocentric. And I say this as bulimia survivor. Do diet products sometimes trigger me? Yes, absolutely. But do I sometimes buy them just because I liked some of them when I was dieting? ALSO YES! Some of these are very tasty and nutritious and I completely don't get their point... Products like that should be illegal or only available for people with illnesses??? What :triggered:

But on the other hand... I don't want to be too harsh on Demi. I don't think they're doing good. I watched their latest documentary and this "California sober" thing... I agree with Elton. It won't work for them. They will relapse eventually.

No one is forcing yoghurt on them.. if it's hard to eat yoghurt, don't seek it. Someone so rich with so many resources, what you experience is already so tailored to you and yet continue making a fool. But I think their heart is good, overall. Not a malicious person.

Another demi thread being used to display intolerance against non-binary ppl, again and again and again and again

"Every time I've made a statement over Instagram or Twitter, I felt like it's gotten lost in translation a little bit,"

Can celebs stop trying to use these sites to make their (big lengthy) statements and callouts, then? Please? :emma: (It's fine for making quick little shows of support, imo.)

They used to be for sharing pictures of your lunch or 140-280-character quick thoughts or short jokes. They probably shouldn't be trying to broadcast really complex stances and nuanced arguments via those platforms, especially if they're new or inexperienced in whatever movement they're trying to further. Of course something's gonna get lost in translation!

Like maybe leave it to people who are better with their words and more experienced at sharing concise arguments, like longtime activists or whoever, instead of shooting yourself in the foot over and over and over and OVER like Demi has

Like retweet/reshare the National Eating Disorders Association's posts and do a charity/fundraiser or something for them instead of this yogurt shop policing circus that makes us look like entitled fools like Demi -____-

They're just basically making a reiteration of the exact same previous statements, this is just an further attempt to save face and win back support and that's not happening. I understand Demi's going through a mental and addiction battle and I sympathise with that but perhaps being on social media isn't for them if such a state of mind is going to lead to situations like this? Concern can be voiced in private if the need is that strong, running to Twitter with every grievance is a sad reflection of our time. Demi has more than enough money to have froyo delivered if going into a shop to buy it is that distressing for them and this insistence that the shop needs to do better needs to be dropped. There is no problem with selling low calorie foods for people who just want to be mindful of their calorie intake and weight. I do that and I'm not trying to be stick thin, nor do I have eating disorder. I'm just mindful of what I consume so I don't overeat and can still indulge as long as I've earned it by eating healthy enough the rest of the time and it's all about maintaining a healthy weight for my height and build, not to get skinny. Demi needs to stop thinking people only eat "diet" foods because they have a problem with their self-image. I understand this is a bulimia survivor talking but realising that the whole world doesn't operate with the mindset of an eating disorder is crucial to dealing with your own.

“think like me or die”. Like wtf. Very much rooted in narcissistic behavior. I’d actually like to conduct research on this phenomenon.

I'm seeing more and more voice given to this concept as well which is badly needed. The concept of SJW-ness, woke-ness and cancel culture seems to be based around classic symptoms of narcissism - avoiding all blame but blaming everyone else, very quick to burn bridges, holding a grudge, believing their way is the only right way, not listening to any potentially helpful feedback, retreating to victimhood when confronted. When I heard about the "communal narcissist," I realised that this basically described a really aggressive SJW. They're all about showing how charitable they are but they need a lot of validation for it, they go on about it all the time and devote their entire personality to being the nicest person around. But if you look closely, you'll find they're actually quite distant from the causes they claim to help and maybe even think they are above the people they claim to help. That would so often explain the tendency for the woke crowd to claim offence on behalf of a disadvantaged group when said group has no issue or claiming that the group needs help which suggests they're not intelligent enough to do it themselves.

You need to respect the pronouns or avoid this subject. Those are your options.

Makes so much sense, thanks for going in depth about the phenomenon, I really needed an explanation.

So you are implying that the members here cannot defend for themselves and need the internet police?

Shame.
