China's National Health Commission (NHC) on Tuesday confirmed the first known case of a person contracting the H10N3 strain of bird flu.

As Reuters reports, the NHC stated that the patient was a man who lived in the city of Zhenjiang in China’s eastern province of Jiangsu. He was hospitalized on April 28 after developing a fever and other symptoms. He was diagnosed a month later with the H10N3 avian influenza virus.

It is unclear how he contracted the virus, and no other cases among his close contacts have been reported.

The man was stable and ready to be discharged, Reuters reports.

According to the NHC, the H10N3 strain is a less severe variant and the risk of it spreading on a large scale is low.

Pretty sure that your world must be very different from ours. Many countries are collapsing from covid. Brasil, India, Argentina and most of the African continent are struggling. India and Brasil are a freakshow

Where are all the meat eaters from the other topic complaining about vegan ppl "shaming" them? This is what veganism is about. The main cause of zoonoses is ****ing eating meat.

Poor safety and sanation standards in many markets, high population, wet markets selling creatures that have a higher risk of viruses than regular meat, hot and humid climate in some parts of the Country...

Its not surprising virus remixes keep popping out of there all the time

Even as far back as the black plague of the 1300s that killed over 200M ppl... tho it became very talked about as an European pandemic... the outbreak was actually theorized to have started in Asia first (which also got hit hard) quite possibly in China :deadbanana:

I know that event was bacterial not viral but either way, death is death
