Genuine Guy 09 13,941
I think Bloody Mary would’ve been a better single choice than HML. Locals like it on TikTok, whilst both of them are quite avant garde and would never be singles this is a tough one. Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

Judas is great but wasn't a huge success with the GP. It's not about the genre, it's all about the message. The songs are not radio-friendly, first of all. Gaga recorded a clean version of Perfect Illusion because of one word, so HML is not a song for radio stations for sure. Without the radio's support, the song would heavily underperform. BM is too dark and after the Judas' backlash, the label would never push it as a single. Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No
littlepotter 75,147
Bloody Mary would have been a great single, I'm so certain. A good song is a good song, there's no such thing as "GP friendly" with Gaga. It has an amazing chorus, a standout weirdness, it's not abrasive and would be great for radio. It was actually a radio hit in my country and reached #1 chaeri pls

AmenTheNight 1,084
Scheisse had more potential than any of these two. Had she made a radio edit of Scheisse and released it instead of Judas, the era could have kept even more momentum. OT : Bloody Mary as an halloween single would have made its thing. HML got a radio release that did nothing, so ... eh.

They changed ''high like amphetamine'' into ''high like I'm finally free'' for radio. You can find the clean version on YouTube. SO wiith HML being a single, they should've rewritten all the lyrics from the scratch In my opinion, they should've pushed Hair instead of MTN. The song is radio-friendly and sounds quite positive and promising, especially around the Christmas time. MTN is too dark, and GP obviously wasn't in the mood for such songs back then. Even if Hair underperformed, it already was #12 at the Billboard Hot 100, so no one would label it as flop as it was with MTN. Did you think I'd show up in a limousine?
