But I do have to admit that it is very conflicting as a gay man to fully support Palestine in general due to their treatment toward women and the LGBT+ community. Both the Palestinian govt and Hamas have some extremely regressive and inhuman policies. While they are maybe “innocent” in this particular instance, they are far from being peaceful and innocent overall.

Hmmm again Israelies are not the gay friendly either I am tired of talking about this, go to the israeli/palestine thread and you will see why is it wrong to assume that. Bein gay friendly doesn’t exclude the fact they are committing  a genocide.

Gay rights are part of human rights, most of you take it for granted because you didn’t suffer to have it. I don’t mean you, but it similar to saying that you are republican gay who is prolly racist and says “all lives matter” because the african American community is homophobic.

The fact that they are systematically poor, on purpose and oppressed  IS THE PROBLEM. You can’t say “well, african American communities are violent anyway” Because you know that is rooted in their oppression.

Lol so a random tweet is a source? Lol at least a video would do, an account full of Israeli propaganda sure they are not lying :enigma:

It is funny how Israili government apologists use Breitbart, right wong israili news outlet and random tweets without video or audio

I checked his name and there’s wiki, but check this important part

”In Israel, a blanket gag order regarding the incident was put into place. It lasted 10 months, until July 9, 2015. Discussions took place in social media forums and some reports were published on foreign websites.[3] Some clues about the affair were leaked to different Arabic media outlets, from which the story made its way to international media and was published by blogger Richard Silverstein.[10] The gag order was lifted following a request from Haaretz.[3]The Associated Press speculated that a statement made by Khaled Mashaal the previous day, in which he spoke of an Israeli request through a European intermediary for the release of "two soldiers and two bodies", may have "forced Israel's hand".[9]

Amir Rapaport of Makor Rishon wrote, "The main reason for the low profile in which the incident was dealt with was the fear that public announcement will make it difficult for Hamas to return Mengistu to Israel, since a massive [Palestinian] public pressure will be applied to Hamas to not return him without an extensive deal of prisoners swap".[11]

Critics say the Mengistu family is being treated poorly because of their Ethiopian ethnicity. Avera's brother, Yalo, has stated that if Avera were white, the affair would have been handled differently.[3] A message sent on Hamas' Twitter account said, "Obviously, the real Israeli motto is 'leave no Ashkenazi man behind,'" an apparent reference to the military and diplomatic efforts made by Israel on behalf of captured soldier Gilad Shalit and the lack of such efforts on Mengistu's behalf.[14]

So again racist Israeli gov placed gag order  on media because they didn’t want to do prisoners’ swap, as they did before, because the captured is Ethiopian/not white.

Not sure what that user’s point was, like they care generations of Palestinians have ptsd.

Taking a neutral standpoint on a genocide means you are siding with the oppressors. And if we don't know enough about the situation it's our responsibility to educate ourselves. (I know I for one have been trying my best to learn all I can even though it's not always easy) Otherwise we're literally part of the problem. Ignorance is complicity.

She’s not well informed. Like ... yea, ofc Israelis and Palestinians deserve peace and safety. Which is why watching MASSIVE wealthy and well funded Israel (some weapons funded by U.S) beat up on a much, MUCH smaller apartheid state Palestine like a schoolyard bully, but with missles and bombs and dying children and destroyed families and so much more, is so heartbreaking and disgusting.

She should have educated herself after people called out her stupid stance on this situation a few years back when she was advertising a paid propaganda trip in Israel. She literally has no excuse for not being “educated enough” in 2021

I think Demi is doing the right thing for once.

Fact is, these political issues are way too complicated to be discussed and summarized in a short Instagram post or tweet. There's a reason these conflicts have been around for decades. It's not simple and it's not easy.

Colonization really isn’t that complex of an issue. The issue hasn’t been solved because the West benefits from Israel’s existence in such a strategic location. Otherwise it’s quite simple and easy to know which side is right and which side is wrong 🤡

LadyEnigma

this was poorly worded, saying you stand with the innocent civilians of each side is one thing but ignoring what Israel is doing to Palestine is a total different standing and I feel like that's what they did here.

All you have to do is google the guy's  name.

Do you often erase people from history whose life grays your black and white view of the world?
