MOT 3,136
I just watched her part of the programme, and overall I found it uplifting. What was done to Stefani was terrible, but her message is less about that and more about how acknowledging and opening up about such trauma or mental health issues in general can be so helpful to sufferers. She comes across as a highly intelligent, strong adult. 'I'm good' she says. Glad to hear it, and I send her my love.
Focus 2,456
It most likely happened around the time Red & Blue was released. I think it makes sense why Gaga said "Don't ever call me Stefani again" after they came up with the stage name "Lady Gaga" for The Fame.
Phaye Monster 8,741
Gaga is really just one of the bravest, strongest people out there. It will always break my heart to hear how much she has gone through, she doesn’t deserve any pain. I honestly just hope that she has healed from this experience and that she’s able to be happy and peaceful now. I know she hinted towards it in the MTN video, but to hear her actually say it makes it so much more heartbreaking. All my love to you, Gaga. Guest
I think this is why she is worried about how her body will react if she gets pregnant, she talks about this fear in 5f2, I think its not that much about her hip but more about the fact that being pregnant was part of that horrible trauma and that she will come back to it. poeticprose 310
This is so dificult to talk about...what that monster did to her is just beyond evil. What I can say is that i'm so happy she didn't give up, she became the star she wanted to be. She did not let that pos had any power over her. Guys, let's not pressure Gaga. Let her heal. The very fact that she's in this healing process and working tells you all about the strenght this woman have.

This happened 16 years ago, she probably doesn't have any evidence to support her claim, and because of that, he would be absolved for lack of evidence, then he sues her back for difamation bacause of it. Imagine her going throught all that, and in the end it's all for nothing. I’m just curious why he wasn’t put away back then. But I don’t know the circumstances and I know how hard it is to report rape and sexual assault. It just kills me that whoever it was is walking around freely instead of rotting in prison. CyanLights 15,576
I hope you guys remember the way she’s feeling here when everyone complains about her not promoting her stuff and taking breaks instead of critiquing her and calling her “lazy”

She has said before she didn't even believe it was a sexual assault, so I can imagine the process in the long term is what made it clear to her years later. As for the abuser, I don't think this person is having a happy life. Only a miserable human being does such a vile and disgusting thing. While Gaga's career has thrived and flourished after that, I know this disgusting man is just losing in life. I just hope others don't have to go through what Gaga has endured. Hopefully some sort of justice happens.
Franch Toast 26,930
Something that’s bothering me in this thread is people assuming she would feel bad if she did terminate the pregnancy. First off, we don’t know if she did—we can speculate based on the MTN video, but ultimately, we really don’t know, and it’s not our business anyway. However, not everyone who does have an abortion feels guilt over it. Someone close to me was raped as a teen, got pregnant, and had an abortion, and she claims she doesn’t regret terminating the pregnancy one bit. (You know what she regrets? Being raped.) Even people who get pregnant from consensual sex and end up terminating the pregnancy don’t always feel a sense of loss. Also, abortion doesn’t always involve an operation; it depends on what stage it was done. If Gaga did terminate her pregnancy, we really don’t know how she feels about it. We know it took a long time for Gaga to process what happened to her. Sexual assault is very difficult to prove - especially if the coercion is more emotional than physical. Abusers can also interpret events differently to victims, which (in my opinion) is what Gaga doesn't want to give a platform to. I think it's fair to say that her abuser would deny the sex was rape. It happened more than once and Gaga continued to work with him (I think?) after the first time it happened. We can assume there's no evidence it happened, either. I can see why Gaga wouldn't want to take this to court. Why should she try and 'prove' something that she knows happened in a system that is stacked against her? It's a very difficult situation. In my view, there is not a hope in hell her abuser could be prosecuted for this, unless he admitted to it. I also don't think the 'benefits' of just naming her abuser outweigh the 'negatives' of Gaga no doubt being gas-lit and having to relive those experiences. She's processed what happened. She knows what happened. If she names her abuser, she gives him a voice - and that voice will very likely rewrite history in a way she cannot concretely disprove. I am glad she is not going to let that happen. subtext / fantasy

I understand and I agree that we shouldn't be speculating. When I wrote my post I thought it had been confirmed because of the way people were talking about it in a matter of fact way. I think when someone makes that decision they make it knowing it's the right thing to do and they don't feel bad about it and they shouldn't. When it happens you know what you have to do and whatever choice you make is the right one. I find that for people who are maternal and have a fantasy of what their first pregnancy and family will be like, it can be hard knowing that it happened to you once but somebody took it from you. It's like knowing something sacred was ruined, and based on what we've seen depicted in her art and the things she's alluded to in interviews and 5 foot 2 it was easy to assume that she might still feel some emotional pain from it. Perhaps guilt was the wrong word to use. Because she should not feel guilty and neither should any other woman.
