Lana Del Rey - Blue Banisters, Textbook, Wildflower Wildfire OUT NOW

Im disappointed, she keeps doing songs with only piano as background. And you call she freestyles the melody because she writes very long sentences and sings them very fast at some point to fit the song, then slow again, sometimes it has no chorus.

These are really good! She has actually changed her sound up a little!

I used to be such a huge fan, but the past few years I've just been finding it a total chore to listen to her new stuff.

I was excited to see her working with new writers/producers (the world does NOT need anymore Jack Antonoff music please), but as soon as I pressed play I knew I was in for more of the same tediously dreary piano ballads. They're not even that long but I really had to fight the urge to press skip.

They're not terrible, I'm sure lots of people will like these. But I do hope she goes back to the rich, cinematic and atmospheric music she was so great at.

Can't wait to get home to listen to them, first time I don't bring my airpods to work in months. :triggered: Chemtrails is a good album but not really my cup of tea, disappointed me so much.

If you start with the expectation that you’re going to be disappointed, you’ll probably walk away disappointed.

Enjoying these slightly more than COCC songs... but damn, I was really hoping for more of a Lust For Life direction. 🥲 She does trip-hop so well.

Same :fatcat: i only ♡ted 3 songs from coTcc ... it never happened to me with lana

That's how I felt with NFR and everything since. Idk what's happening her new stuff just doesn't resonate with me :noparty: It's very strange I love all her music before that SO much.

Didn't she say in an interview that she has been having problems finding melodies lately so she resorts to writing poetry instead? The new songs sound more like poetry than songs. Even the structure of them is quite evident of it.

psa music doesn’t have to follow the established pop song structure and there are literally millions of fans that appreciate Lana for her unique style and poetic lyricism

I'm slowly getting into these songs. Blue Banisters I instantly liked though the metaphor is lost on me, Text Book sounds lovely but I'm searching for meaning in some of these obscure lyrics that I'm struggling with and the same for Wildflower Wildfire. The sounds are gorgeous, as is her voice, but it's not instantly connecting like usual. But then, I'm not used to listening to 3 new Lana singles on the same day, so maybe I need more time to let it digest. This sounds like something the critics will eat up, though, that much I do know.
