Best song and video from the L.A.M.B era.

not just from her LAMB era, it's her BEST song! And one of the best from the 2000's

Honestly one of the most memorable music videos I have ever seen. So simple but so effective. That vintage Italian/European lakeside aesthetic is what dreams are made of and it pairs ever so perfectly with the song.

I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.

Reject False Icons

For me it’s either that one and What you waiting for :tony:

it’s so frenetic and self-aware but full of truth

and I can’t even talk about how STUNNING she looked in those Galiano gowns and her Alice in wonderland outfits performing and jumping in those impossible Vivienne Westwood heels

It's definitely my fave among Gwen's solo songs, though her No Doubt tracks are still the best for me because I love No Doubt Gwen the most (the sass! the "I don't give a f*ck" attitude!).

The video is undoubtedly (pun intended) one of her best, perhaps after "Don't Speak," and both were directed by Sophie Muller. "Cool" nicely wraps up the heartache Gwen unleashed in No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom, where she crooned about her anger, devastation, and hurt after bandmate Tony Kanal dumped her in tracks such as "Sunday Morning," "Excuse Me Mr," and the aforementioned  "Don't Speak." In "Cool," Gwen comes full circle, her wounds allegedly healed –– I say "allegedly," because it's clear from the video that the character she's playing still has feelings for her ex and is gutted at the sight of him with his new beloved, and she's trying to pretend that she's over him. To deepen the significance, Tony Kanal's then-girlfriend, now-wife, stars in the role of the "new girlfriend" in the video, perhaps symbolizing that they were all A-okay in real life as well, as by then, Gwen was hitched to douchebag extraordinaire Gavin Rossdale. Lyrics and casting aside, the cinematography and entire mise-en-scène of the video is sumptuous. Also, brunette Gwen is gorgeous.

Every track on L.A.M.B. is great, however, and it's a perfect pop album. Gwen excels at songs about flawed relationships, breakups, and healing from them. "4 in the Morning" (presumably about Gavin) is another gem from her solo era, and while I know many aren't fond of TIWTTFL, "Used to Love You" is such a heartfelt song about feeling betrayed by someone you loved whom you now hate. Return of Saturn and Rock Steady from her No Doubt oeuvre also are chockfull of songs about men behaving badly (again, Gavin Rossdale).

Cool speaks to love and romance in a breathtakingly unique way.  My favorite Gwen song!

Dr Fudge

I’m more of a Slow Clap kind of guy, but Cool is ok too, I guess.

This is one of the best live performances I've found:

Cool really spoke to me after a break up. Her solo ballads were great. I would have loved Early Winter as the 3rd main single with a higher budget video.

Also, stream Its My Life. It’s so close to 100M views!
