I'm genuinely baffled and slightly disturbed at all these people saying that we need to stop producing, that it's better for the environment and we're over-populated.

It is a little weird but as someone who dislikes kids, I'm totally on board with less procreation :giggle:

We just need to allow more immigration to off set the drop in baby making is all.

Whimsical bitch

See, again, it's part of our culture to just treat it as a joke. It's fine to not want kids but to actively encourage others not to do so I feel isn't right. What species doesn't want to protect the growth of their own kind for generations to come? The idea of the population shrinking and shrinking as I age actually terrifies me. Especially if there's less doctors and care home staff to look after me in my old age. Let's face it, these kinds of jobs don't want to be done by the majority of us so we have to thank our lucky stars that there are people out there who do want to do them. But if we have less people in the world, the chances of these jobs being filled diminish. And if everyone's old and at retirement age, who's going to work and pay for things?

It also baffles me that immigration is seen as the solution to it all. Older immigrants who don't intend to have children will just add to the problem and immigrants who have no intention of adapting to their new country and don't get a job will provide a whole host of other issues. Immigration is fine so long as the country can handle such a sudden influx (especially with housing) and the immigrants are willing to adapt to their new home.

Yes adoption and fostering are always and option. But then everyone should be adopting and fostering, not just people facing infertility. Just because someone has a medical diagnosis of infertility doesn't mean that they should be obligated to adopt just like someone else that is able to have children. I didn't miss you point. I just know what it's like to want a child of your own, and the depression that I've been in for the past three years trying to make that happen. You don't get to judge someone else's life decisions. Adoption and fostering are wonderful options if you feel that is right for you. People shouldn't be adopting and fostering children just because. Adopted children should be wanted just as much as a child born into a family, children shouldn't be adopted out of an obligation. No one is ignoring that there are children that need to be adopted, but for some people that isn't the best option for their family. Fostering to adopt is a long process and can be an expensive one even if done through a state agency. Not to mention you aren't necessarily guaranteed to have a child in the end because the goal of fostering is reunification of the family. If you go through a private agency for adoption, it costs just as much as fertility treatments, and once again you are not guaranteed a child. If you feel so strongly about adopting and fostering then you should be out there doing it yourself.

Again, not reading because it's clear you didn't read my posts correctly. I'm saying ANYONE who wants kids should not be concerned with pregnancy/fertility. They should adopt. You don't know anything about my life, nor my plans for the future so I suggest you SHOO! Rat

Obviously humans, since a great number of them conceive children just to not raise them lol.....nor provide adequate housing to the homeless/impoverished ones once they reach adulthood.

Have you ever attempted to adopt? If not then you should probably not try to tell others how the process actually works.... that is unless you work for DCFS.

I have no interest in raising children of any kind. The point is adoption is  not neccesarily accessible to everyone who wants a child.

Obviously, you shouldn't have children if you have no intention of raising them properly. I'm only encouraging people to have children if they want them, can afford them and are generally equipped to raise them.

And in response to you saying that if someone wants a child, they should just adopt - if everyone did that, there would be no more children left to adopt in the future. It's the biggest catch-22 that no one seems to realise.

I told y'all in the thread about condom sales that this is why they've skyrocketed :ohwell:

Who the hell can afford to have a baby? Having a child in this economy can bankrupt a family and stretch them past their breaking points. Especially in the US where if you don't have insurance they charge you like $20,000 to even have the baby

I keep being reminded recently how grateful I am to be gay and never have to worry about accidentally creating a baby :laughga:   what a concept. Sorry straights

I live in nowhere’s asscrack and people around here have kids for one of a few reasons: A. They’re too stupid to care about having safe sex. B. They’re too uneducated about safe sex. C. They’re trying to “fix a relationship” or D. They want the tax write-offs and welfare that comes with having kids.

Most of the girls I went to high school with have all had kids (I’m 27) and I’d say only maybe 2/5 of them are still with the guy they had it with. But they’re reaping in that WIC and SNAP and Child Support and welfare. I have no issue with government-given support but these people bring kids into this world for reasons they shouldn’t. It’s heartbreaking.

And Paula Abdul ain’t got [BLEEP] on me!

1. I'm reading your posts correctly.

2. Maybe you should read what I write instead of just passing judgement before reading the entire thing.

3. There is no need for you to call me a rat or to shoo me. If you can't even listen to someone that is living the life of going through all their options of having children you should just not speak on the topic at all.

I'm done quoting you since you want to be so rude about things.
