Why did Gaga...

Why did Gaga release TFM as an EP (alongside a re-release of The Fame with 8 new tracks) instead of making TFM a full album?

Was it to milk The Fame's success and expand the numbers or due to another reason? I always imagine, what if she would've added songs like Animal, Reloaded and Out Of Control to make it a complete album. :nails:

That's exactly what it was, a marketing technique to continue to bolster her debut album's numbers. It was a really popular technique for a few years in the early 2010's. Teenage Dream: The Complete Confectionry, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Animal: Cannibal, Born to Die: The Paradise Edition... What pop girl wasn't doing that same sales technique?!

For further context: There is a phenomenon in popular music known as the "sophomore slump" where a hit breakthrough album's successor tends to underperform in such a big way that it can throw entire careers off track. I think the whole "mega-edition EP" trend was a pre-streaming strategy to avoid sophomopre slump.

It is a complete album :yennefer:

8 tracks, longer than 30 minutes, it doesn't fit the definition of an EP. That's why Joanne was LG5 and Chromatica was LG6 :yennefer:

It was simply a follow-up album

TFM is an album (and an era) for itself for me as well, but the whole TF/TFM re-release always confused me. I remember Gaga saying in a few interviews that she had to fight with her label to also release TFM as an "EP" only as well, so that people who already bought The Fame don't have to 'buy' it again.

Gaga wanted it as it’s own album WW but her label made her repackage it with TF for the US. Probably because they wanted to milk it’s success.

Wasn't TFM also meant as a part 2 of TF? Like the darker version, and together they are like ying and yang or something like that? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think this was Gaga’s intention
