“Boris Johnson has scrapped plans for televised White House-style briefings amid concerns about the “political risk” involved despite spending £2.6 million on a new room to host them.

The Times has been told that the briefings have been axed because they risk giving “oxygen” to difficult stories for ministers.”

While I’m pro Scotland leaving I don’t get why EVERYTHING to do with this moron has to have that brought up.
every person in the U.K. deserves better, not just Scotland.

OT: Are we really shocked? He’s a idiot who has been throwing money around Willy nilly with no care in the world.

this money is nothing compared to what he has given his mates.

It’s just news that I am reporting on. If the PM was acting legally and non-corruption I would not be posting these type of stories everyday but every single day the PM seems to rope himself into some corrupt situation.

Considering for the last few years we’ve had to have more briefings given and they’ve been from outside, a garden and in some wooden hall thing... it was about time we had an actual briefing room made :huntyga:

The thing is, the press briefing have been scrapped and it’s an utter waste of 2.6 million pounds.

I’m cool with the threads, it’s just the constant ‘Scotland deserves better’ take when that has nothing to do with this at all.

We still evidently needed somewhere to address the nation from as it has become more commonplace to address us so it’s not a waste.

It is literally a waste of money. It doesn’t cost £2.6 million to paint a room and throw up a couple of flags.

Factor in people’s time, the renovations required to build a studio, knock down and reintroduce different placed walls, an in-house editing and broadcast room etc.  That costs money and will save future expenses.  It’s not just paint the room blue and put a flag up lmao

2.6 million for a room that will barely be used. Yes, such a great use of money whilst the UK Gov underfunds the NHS, pays a 1% pay increase to NHS, 3 million self employed people go without Government support. Yes, what a good waste of money.

Good point but it sounds like you have an issue with how much them types of briefings cost in a national scale. Don't get me started on how much the USA press briefings by the President cost 😒😂 such is life

I get the need for these “press briefings” but when the Tories have spent billions in given their friends dodgy contracts, underfunding the NHS and not given nurses the pay rise they deserve (in England) this 2.6 million was definitely was not needed.
