1. Not gonna lie I came in this thread to see if it was a non-POC making this thread. Happy to see it’s not! While I don’t plan on visiting these threads now, I do hope you include more indigenous looking Mexican men. Not because “European looking Mexicans” are any less Mexican, but because there is such a thing as colorism. I’m personally tired of seeing colorism affect Spanish media like Novelas and even Primer Impacto. Let’s show our Hispanic diversity!

Not a bad thing. They pick really cute ones. Like every other TV company in the world.

So only "cute" people deserve to be a star? Does beauty matter more than talent? Because there are lousy lead actors who are only on screen because they are good looking.

We have Demian Bichir, Cantinflas, Emilio Fernandez, Chespirito, Joaquin Cosio, etc, and none of them are "clasically" handsome. Of course you don't have to be cute to be a star but you were dismissive of Jose Minor because he looks like a "typical televisa star" which came off as a pejorative. I don't know how this guy's looks have anything to do with other people deserving or not to be a star. Abrazos amigo.

Because in the leading roles (of telenovelas, TELEVISA STAR) there are never "common", "unattractive" people. There are always beautiful people and it doesn't matter if they act good or bad, as long as they are beautiful. And it is not pejorative, when it is a fact.

Then you should know that depending on what state you are from looks also change. Some states have bigger amounts of whites and some states have bigger amounts of indigenous people. All equally Mexican.

i'm not talking about the amount, i'm talking about the media and representation, besides, not every white person here look like him, some are queer or less normative etc. It is the embodiment of a stereotype that is more damaging here than the people outside that think every single latin american people is indigenous people, because yes, colorism and racism do exist here too.

I am not defending Televisa, but isn't that what every Broadcasting TV company does: ABC, NBC, TV Azteca, Univision, Telemundo, Caracol TV, etc.? They cast beautiful people to star on their shows don't they?

:fail: YES! That's what I'm saying, that they just pick pretty people without caring in many cases if they are talented or not.
