Leoooo

Im 25 and have had the AZ vaccine, (it was before this blood clott business) and I feel bloody fantastic. Cant wait to have my second and be able to live life to the fullest soon enough, without the lingering worry I could catch covid and die.

But the Pfizer and moderna also has had clotting. Just no one talking about it. So oooo?

A study by Oxford University found the number of people who receive blood clots after getting vaccinated with a coronavirus vaccine are about the same for those who get Pfizer PFE and Moderna MRNA vaccines as they are for the AstraZeneca AZN vaccine that was produced with the university's help. According to the study, 4 in 1 million people experience cerebral venous thrombosis after getting the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, versus 5 in 1 million people for the AstraZeneca vaccine. The risk of getting CVT is much higher for those who get COVID-19 -- 39 in a million patients -- than it is for those who get vaccinated. AstraZeneca's vaccine use has been halted or limited in many countries on blood clot concerns.

Let's break down this 'my body, my choice' argument:

Firstly, this isn't the same as the abortion debate. Yes, you have the right to do what you want with your body. But the context isn't about having a baby, sex reassignment or even something cosmetic like piercings. It's happening because there is a global pandemic. 'Your choice' affects others.

Secondly, we all have a social responsibility to care for others. Mask wearing is an example of that, but it's not foolproof and many people don't do it properly. By refusing a vaccine or waiting to get a 'better' one, you're increasingly the risk of others getting the disease and dying, including many who would want the vaccine you're refusing but genuinely can't have it. You are prolonging the pandemic and letting it worsen.

Thirdly, remember that other vaccines aren't risk-free. Did you know that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines both have higher rates of anaphylaxis than J&J and AZ? This allergic reaction can kill and cause long-term damage, and the causes surrounding it are still not fully known. BUT the risk is still insanely low, just like the blood clots.

The worst part is people complaining about the risk of side effects when they're wandering about aimlessly in pandemic that has a higher risk of putting themselves and the vulnerable in danger.

You made my day seriously. Such a clever post among all these ignorant people around here gave me trust in humanity

Dude i did not say the blood clots are an opinion 🤦. Also i meant safe for general vaccination i was not talking about the others

Im saying to say it is not safe is an opinion. These side effects are SO RARE and if u compare to the risk of covid then for sure they shouldnt be getting refused

Do u realize if anything medical that contained a risk of 1 in a few hundred thousand chance of causing serious harm was banned and considered unsafe almost no medicine at all would exist and would never be allowed?

By ur standards we would still be in the dark ages dying of simple infections.

Anything will carry some degree of risk... to say astrazeneca isnt safe is definitely an opinion at this point NOT A FACT

In my country a man dropped dead a few minutes after recieving his astraZeneca vaccine

Thats very sad... but that proves nothing

No one is disputing the rare cases that pop up. Were saying the virus is WAY WAY WAY more likely to kill u than the vaccine. These are cases that literally make up 1 in hundreds of thousands of shots

Going on a new medication for your blood pressure has a higher chance of a severe reaction nevermind

If the benefits to risk in this case dont convince u, u might as well be anti medicine... Most medical drugs or procedures have higher risks than this but no one thinks twice cuz it isnt micro focused on the news like this is because of pandemic

Also its not like Pfizer and Moderna dont have their own risks and havent had their own cases of shots gone wrong

We technically ordered more per capita than the US... more than any Country actually...

But the US didnt get screwed over as much as Canada did in January and February with extensive delays in shipments (especially from Moderna)

Although we did start our first vaccines in December as well it wasnt until March we got off the snails pace :toofunny:

I say snails pace at least compared to the US & UK cuz globally speaking were not as bad as some here like to complain :ladyhaha:

We had bought 400 Million doses for a population of 38 Million. Thats over 10 doses per person :ladyhaha:

But yeah there were delays by the companies beyond our control in January and February in the shipments ACTUALLY ARRIVING so the vaccinations started slower here than in the US :flop:

This is a very basic logical fallacy called anecdotal evidence. You're discounting actual scientific data for the sake of cases you have heard of (which aren't incorrect, but the statistics show that this is INCREDIBLY rare and does not offer a solid reason to reject a vaccine). I've heard of people die from car crashes, do I stop riding in a car? I've heard people falling from rooftops, do I stop using rooftops? I've heard of people slip on their stairs and die, do I stop using stairs? Everything in life has a side effect, including the water we drink. But the benefits outweigh the risks by MILES and that's why we don't talk dwell on them and jeopardize our life. Pfizer and Moderna and every single other vaccine, be it for covid or not, has deadly side effects. But again, they are extremely rare. So when I say show me evidence that the vaccines are worrying to the point of not taking them, saying that very VERY few people got thrombosis or clots or whatever is not evidence of that.

If I have even a 0.01% chance of getting a better vaccine than AstraZeneca than I'm waiting for that one. This is not hard to understand.

Bloodcloths can be deadly how more evidence do you need
