mightyriverz 2,035
how do you know if R. Kelly had any participation in the writing before he was invited to feature on the track? it doesn't make sense at all

I see this said a lot too, and I feel like there’s got to be a way to release it without him credited. The song existed first without him, with some different lyrics in the parts where he ended up hopping on the track. The chorus and overall sound is exactly the same. Surely they can roll it back to its original composition before he was involved. If he’s locked in to receiving royalties and credit for it in all iterations, then the Xtina one shouldn’t be available either. I’d love to hear insight from someone who knows/works in royalties and songwriting.

Kelly will still profit off of the song, then why is the version with Xtina still available on streaming/iTunes? I’ve always wondered this too. I guess the GP wouldn’t be looking up song info like us stans would so to them it’s just Gaga & Xtina. But he profits off of every remix of the song because the album version counts as the original (despite the solo being THE original) with his writing credits so it goes back to him. Stanley Digaga 974
I don't think she should. When she removed the song she kind of said that she shouldn't have written it in the first place, so it would be hypocritical to add it back.
venuspop 807
As much as I loved DWUW, we have the XTina version on streaming services and the solo version on YouTube, if she added DWUW back she'd undoubtedly face major backlash, so I'm going to unfortunately say no rocket number 9 take off to the planet 🚀
Prostitute Barbie 4,076
I can’t see how deleting it off the album alone made much difference. His name is still on the credits when you stream the song. If it matters so much as a moral principle to them then they should remove all versions from all platforms. That being said the original does not need to be returned to the album. It should have been replaced with a high potential unreleased track because the album feels lacking now. steven 5,649
No, there's too much controversy around this song.
ChicaSkas 22,404
Its soooo difficult. It's my favorite song on ARTPOP. I've even made an album just for myself of that actual entire song in 20 different imaginings. Also when I met Paul, he told me it was his fave song on the album too. That being said, I voted no, because Gaga removed it from her catalog for a reason. She should get another male lead singer to cover the male parts, and rerelease it, so we have both a female and male counterpart. (female being Christina Aguilera's version). CyanLights 15,543
If R.Kelly gets money/residuals from any version then no. I think he has writing credits on the solo version if I'm not mistaken so probably not the best idea. If theres a way to not get him to get money from it then **** me up
DelusionalGaga 29,511
If R.Kelly still profits from the Xtina version, then why is it still available on streaming? Why wouldn't they remove it as well?

Yeah it wouldn't make sense to add it back after the statement she released, it'd just stir the pot. It's also my favorite song from the album, they did an amazing job on it and the album does feel like it's lacking something and that's because it had so much potential. JusKeepBreathin 19,311
Yes because taste. Solo or Christina version. No because R. Kelly still profits. So my final answer is only about R.Kelly. No it shouldn't be added.
