I adore Gaga.

I lost my Dad this year, and like a lot of people right now, Chromatica helped me escape and work through a difficult time.

 

Some fans, perhaps not you or the Admin, are here to discuss her art critically with people who are familiar with her work. Some fans are just here to type “YAS” every time she posts something on Instagram. There is no reason why both fans and conversations can’t exist on this forum. You, and the Admin, are creating a false divide that doesn’t need to exist. 

But, this is probably off topic. So that’s all I’ll say about that.

The problem is not everyone having these conversations is doing so from a critical perspective, they're doing it genuinely out of spite. They have no ability to speak intelligently about Gaga, the rhetoric they resort to is elementary level and devoid of any thought. To be honest, I genuinely HATE anyone who is critical of Lady Gaga. But that's a conversation for another thread.

I don't think you, as Admin, should dismiss members' opinions here just because they aren't constantly praising Gaga. These opinions are shared by not a few members here who are fans and love Gaga. Gaga is what brought them here to this forum in the first place. They aren't haters and they're expressing their views in a respectful way.

I think you raised good points in comparision to Gaga's past eras sponsorships and business ventures. However, I think it's fair that some fans feel as though the balance has shifted in recent years. Her lack of communication with the fans, her social media involving more than 50% of sponsored posts or campaigns she is promoting and her lack of performances are all examples of why some would feel like the balance between her commercialism and art has changed. 

If some people feel like she has leaned towards doing more brand deals than focusing on Chromatica, it doesn't come from nowhere. Yes, we did get a fair amount (compared with other artists nowadays) of music videos, visuals and interviews but she has performed songs off Chromatica once. And yes, you could say it's because of the pandemic but that didn't stop other artists from delivering performances after a few months. And I think that's exactly the point. She didn't go out of her way to deliver much content after the album release whereas some would argue that she would have in the past. 

I don't think anyone here is saying Gaga is no longer driven by her art but I think it's merely the fact some feel like the proportions between her art and commercialism has changed and I think it's okay to discuss it.

It's actually costly to make these kind of projects and to be able to get paid as well. Her team is bigger now compared to what it was during The Fame era. She's compelled to acquire these sponsorship/partnership in order to get the capital rolling and to be able to pay her team.

For god's sake we are here into a Forum, where everybody can have their opinion. And your opinion is not better or above their. 

When ppl are constansly saying "yasss" to everything she did, without even quesitonning her moves, and acting like sheeps, yes it's clearly the same that ppl who are quesitonning her moves. But you aren't saying anything because it's supposed to be "posivite" (and guess what, it's not). 

People have the right to say what they feel or think about GaGa, especially now. And you are no one to tell them to get outside because you aren't agree with them. This is not your role as an admin. Maybe you think it's a cult or something else ? Democraty is talking to you ? No ? That's sad.
