Dose anyone in this site love Betty Davis music? Which is your favorite album? Song?

If don't know how Betty Davis is, she is a funk artist, model who's known for her bold and memorable perform style (like M-leg wide open, playing with the microphone as pleasurable penis, thigh-high leather boots, ect.) She used to married Miles Davis but than divorced due to Miles think she's "too young and wild".

But her music is where essence are, yelling, screeching, whispering, mumbling, no matter how she change the way she sang, the raunchiness, confidence and boldness were always there, fulling ever second of her song. By perfectly fusing her vocal with funk music, her talent was Self-explanatory.

If u want to try her album, the second one (They Say I'm Different) would be great starting point!

Recommend song (more catchy) : Ooh Yea, Shoo-B-Doop & Cop Him, Talkin' Trash, You and I

Or maybe you just typing name wrong accidently

She retire, fully, so there's no much information about her nowday's live (maybe dead.) There's a documentary about her but she don't want to show her face.

Yeah. Big fan here. I own a nice deluxe physical CD reedit of 'They Say I'm Different' and otherwise everything possible from her in digital copies. My fave albums are the first and second.

She is explosive, insanely sexy and provocative. Her growls and roars are so raw it's frighteningly good. Any original 70's funk lover has to know this wild woman and her (much too short) body of work. Try to avoid later compilations.

I'm always surprised how she still puts even today's funk fans in a state of shock when they first listen to her music. She's the one who sing "I'm wigglin' my fanny, I'm crazy, I'm nasty..." A wet dream of a woman, I'd say.

Her face is on the cover of "Filles de Kilimanjaro" a '68 Miles Davis album and her name is the title of a song on that album "Mademoiselle Mabry" her maiden's name. The legend tells also about Miles changing the name "Witches Brew" in "Bitches Brew" following Betty's advice... She had a strong influence on Miles Davis style of music and clothes change around that time such as one of her bff, Jimi Hendrix...

Despite all, she never made it big. Probably because she was so ahead of time in her provocative attitude. A pity.
