littlepotter 74,825
I have to say, for a while I've been doing some introspection and trying to search for biases against black men's music, because I very rarely listen to any of Drake, Jay Z, Kanye, Travis, etc. and I wasn't even interested in The Weeknd's album even though it was pop. I do however love and support music by black women, pop or hip hop, so it was a very gray area where I didn't know where my bias was coming from. After finding myself excited for Nas X, and other queer black male artists like Shamir or MNEK, and also noticing I don't listen to white men either except for (at one point) Troye Sivan, I'm relieved to realize that my bias wasn't against black men but straight men in general - they just don't excite me. There are some exceptions for sure (I did enjoy twenty one pilots past two projects quite a bit) but at least I'm not racist chaeri pls
