It seems they tried to include a scene about consent but it was cut out. The IGN site said.

“The scene in question was described as follows;

He begins kissing her arm, which she pulls back, then slamming Pepe into the chair next to hers. There's a scene teaching him consent apparently but they would rather delete him entirely than do something to correct their mistakes?? I don't get it but I'm glad they removed him either way. I'm guessing his entire character is based on similar tropes maybe?

People who are just now becoming aware of racist/sexist old cartoons are the ones who need to be cancelled lol. Warner Brothers has been putting a "warning: racism/sexism depictions" disclaimer on its old cartoon collections since literally the 90s.  It would be so cheesy to "teach Pepe about consent" better to just leave him in the past with the ol' warning label
