CDC: Vaccinated People Can Meet Without Mask, & Still Discouraged Travel.

This isn't the move right now. Wait until the vast majority are vaccinated first The title of this post is one thing but the other 2 points made in this article are actually just wild. The vaccinated become super spreaders.

"Those who are vaccinated are allowed to:

- Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing.

- Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing.

- Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure to COVID-19, if asymptomatic."

Like someone else said, this virus is likely gonna be around forever like the flu, and we can thank the gross, wildly unsanitary, and irresponsible meat markets in China for that 🤢 If you want to keep wearing masks till the day you die there’s truly nothing stopping ya 

I never said we should wear masks forever. But the vaccination process is still not in its advanced stages. We could at least wait until a big chunk of the population is vaccinated before lifting safety measures like that. I know the virus will be endemic (and this has been discussed since last year), but that doesn't mean we should rush things when everything is so unpredictable. Variants especially are a big threat to vaccination campaigns and we have no universal vaccine yet. I'm sure wearing masks for more months is not that hard really.

This exactly is my worry. I feel like the past year+ has shown that people are incredibly irresponsible and that things can get ugly very fast. So why not remain on the safe side and wait for more people to be vaccinated before lifting such measures?

No measures are being lifted. They are saying vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks with each other. They will still need to wear masks when in public.

They never said that. They are saying you can be maskless and gather with other VACCINATED people.

This is great messaging! The vaccines are very effective and seem to be great at preventing transmission too. Obviously there is a risk for a vaxxed individual to be with an unvaxxed one and maybe spread it, but data shows this to be not that common (hence them mentioning masks when being with higher risk unvaxxed people)

If the messaging was to tell people to still wear masks with everyone, the ordinary person who doesn’t understand herd immunity would see no reason to get a vaccine, and that means no herd immunity and masks forever. This messaging will get us to herd immunity faster. 🤞

I get that i did not miss that detail but have we comfirmed theres no risk?

 

If vaccinated ppl havent been comfirmed to not spread it it means they can also get it... if vaccinated can get it and spread it potentially isnt it a little early to say this if fine?

 

If a vaccinated person A gives it to another vaccinated person B... even tho vaccinated person B probably wont be symptomatic doesnt mean he cant give it to someone else later that isnt indoors at this time

 

Im just saying if theres still doubt about how much a vaccinated person can spread it, how does it change anything if its with other vaccinated ppl? If theres a risk they can still spread it cant it end up in someone who isnt?

The risk has been determined to be low. Vaccinated individuals should still follow all protocols when interacting with unvaccinated people.
