I mean rain on me and stupid love are great too but i cant get enough of the opening performance. Gaga coming down the pole then chromatica II leading into 911 with fierce dancing and vocals. If it had been a regular vmas with an audience i think the crowd would have gone crazy with that entrance. I thought that the vocals were a bit off and I didn't get the choreography. The robotic vocals didn’t sound good to me at all, and the chorus was really underwhelming. Rain On Me and Stupid Love were great. I loved the chemistry between Gaga and Ariana, the vocals were on point and the choreography was amazing. Ariana doing the whistle notes was icing on the cake. Thats fair enough, i get the vocals where a bit off but it kinda added a bit more rawness for me. I must say i didn't enjoy the stupid love piano vocals though, it sounded very forced. I will agree with you on the vocal part, she was a little of breathe because of the choreo and singing with a mask. I feel like because we're used to the album version that is why the vocals didn't sound right without the robotic effects. My only complaint about 911 at the VMA's was that her guitarists overpowered everything during Chromatica II and 911 and made it feel "rock" but maybe that's because I'm so used to the album version. I don’t think it will ever get old to me and I feel like every time it cuts to rain on me I end up rewinding to beginning again. All hail the guitar Maybe it's because I was so used to the album being so electronic and her guitarists are always very prevalent in the mix which I find overpowers everything else. The guitars are not as bad five months later, but at first, I hated how prevalent the guitars were in the live mixes of 911, ROM and SL. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
