This song  with 2012 fashion and a lowkey attitude and some good energy could have done wonders to her career and make her cool again, possibily. 

I feel like her tone gives off a bit unconfortable feeling, maybe just a bit more natural talking tone in just one or two verses, but the little vibrato in "alone" really was a nice touch.I would have appreciated a finished product so much

It was implied for awhile and then when the demo of PN leaked some more tea regarding it leaked. It was done essentially independent of Gaga as an attempt to make the song more "Kendrick". That was why they kept delaying the release and cancelled eventually. Gaga didn't want to compromise her involvement and his team wanted to go heavily in a direction that didn't fit her direction at all. Yeah it was supposed to be on his album - but looking at the demo that leaked and the version from artRAVE - there was a lot cut from Gagas part. Even if the production had just changed, her entire involvement was diminished. The lyrics about Jakarta were totally missing - which is what she described the song as being about. So it was just a messy situation that we will never know the full extent of other than what she has implied after it and that little info that leaked with the song itself.

 

Also making an edit here to be very clear. Everything we know says it was Kendricks TEAM and their actions that stopped the collab from happening.

Plus shortly after this situation she talked about how she has had collaborations with rappers fall through because their team has deemed her too gay and is apprehensive about it.

So tie that all up and it pretty much paints a picture of Gaga and Kendrick going to make a "pop" version of the song and his team pushing back seemingly because they didn't want Kendrick to put out a collab that could be coming off as "gay". They wanted the credit working with a big name like Gaga so early in his career - but they didn't want to chance doing it in a way that could affect his marketability to fans of the genre. So in the end nothing was released as there was zero common ground to be seen.

Like, the song is on fire and I love it so much. We deserved it. Both Monsters and Kendrick fans. It would be beneficial for both parties. If Twista and TI could've rap with her, so can he.

Yeah but also at the time they all had already made names for themselves. Kendrick was just gettinf ready to put out his first album. He likely didn't have as much say over the situation as we would hope an artist does. Artists are stopped all the time from taking "risks" that might impact the profitability of their upcoming promising new artist.
