I mean if he went now it would of probably been booked already before power outage plus he may not necessairily be able to do anything

 

I look more down on this because of covid if anything i dont know what power outage has anything to do with this

This is what annoys me:

Those police could have spent their shift helping distribute water and food (some locations have frozen/burst pipes, some locations are now under a boil notice but some people don't have power to boil their water) or doing wellness checks on elderly or disabled folks living alone. Instead they gotta put their time into Cruz for his one-day vacation 'dropping off his daughters' in tropical paradise while his constituents freeeze. It did more than just look bad image-wise, it diverted potentially diverted resources and first responders from helping those who needed help more than him.

Ok yes that is very selfish.

 

I just thought everyone was criticizing the flight/vacation itself during the power problem alone... cuz hes not the one thats gonna fix that first of all and second of all this flight would have been booked before the issues as well

 

So from that angle the criticism felt a little overblown. My bigger criticism in this case would be unnecessairy travel during covid19 in general

 

However if he did that with the police that changes things completely

There is plenty he could do to help people! And it’s just very tone deaf when his own residents are freezing in their homes. It shows that he doesn’t care which we already knew.

Also I don’t buy that he was just dropping off his kids, because his wife was with them anyway. They saw the backlash so that’s why he came back.

See, the problem with this is his position. If he was a part of a regular working family in Texas, then I would understand him doing this. However, he is a politician with an important job to do. He should have been working to fix these problems so this trip would not have been necessary. This was a very bad move on his part. Between this and the support of Trump and his supporters violent actions, he needs to resign. (Of course, let's not forget some of his beliefs either...)
