While she's always had brand deals since the early days, some of them seem very out of place for the LG brand. You can't necessarily be kind (Lamborghini car in 911 auctioned off to donate to BTWF) or express yourself (HL and Valentino to an extent) through telling the time. If, for example, she had collaborated on the design of the watch it could be influenced by her fashion style rather than her just being the model for it. She's always done random brand deals (Diet Coke and Plenty of Fish in "Telephone" for instance) but I think there is a way to say "okay get your money but why this brand" rather than "OMG I MUST UNSTAN AT THIS INSTANCE" like some users often do, myself included. I also think people are a little more critical of her brand deals because it's often been the only thing posted on her socials after she's disappeared which she has her reasons to disappear but it does get a little boring at times. Most of the people who've been critical of the Tudor ad are not bashing Gaga or acting entitled or whiny. They're expressing their disappointment, which they're allowed to do. You can be a fan of someone and support them overall but not like every single thing that they do, and in fact, it's not healthy to blindly praise every single thing your favorite does and act like they can do no wrong. I have seen people unfairly roast Gaga on this site and throw tantrums like spoiled children, but I didn't really see that regarding the Tudor ad. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes in her life, though it's perfectly reasonable for devoted fans to be slightly miffed that she didn't acknowledge BTW's anniversary but instead is peddling watches that most people on this site won't ever afford. (Yes, I realize she's fulfilling a contract with the latter.) It does feel like "bling not the music." However, at the end of the day, it's her career, not ours. She gets to do what she wants, and if we don't like it, we can vent, and we can also turn our attention elsewhere. Personally, I'm indifferent. I haven't minded her silence, and the National Anthem performance wasn't all that long ago. And I'm aware she has had things going on with her personal life, like a family member hospitalized, and who knows what-else, plus we have a pandemic. The Tudor ad doesn't bother me at all, and I imagine she'll at least acknowledge the anniversary of BTW the album even though she ignored the song's anniversary. But I also acknowledge people's rights to vent. It's not toxic to be disappointed in her actions (or inactions) every now and then. Fans sometimes go too far in trying to manage her career, but this isn't one of those times in my opinion. Anyway, since @MonsterMom already outed me, if you're bored waiting for Gaga, Gwen has been offering up some killer visuals and putting out social media posts/interviews/performances on a regular basis (and I'm not talking about the country stuff with "Blakey"). LG666 1,931 Posted February 19, 2021 Share Posted February 19, 2021 I think the thing that bothers me about this is the fact that she has clearly stated how painful it has been for her to be used as a vehicle for making tons of money. She expressed this after the Fame perfume came out. Which, by the way, I personally felt like that had so much creative energy involved and even though that was a cash-grabbing moment - it was infamous. I still wear her Fame perfume and it still empowers me. Tudor watches though... that is so unrelatable and feels very out of character for her. It's frankly bizarre. Don't get me wrong - I understand the business of being a celebrity and partnerships, etc... but you would think that she would at the very least do a partnership that makes sense with all that she stands for. And for those who ask why she is promoting the watches RIGHT NOW: it's all due to contracts. Since the images are a bit old, I get the sense that their contract has her promote the watch every x amount of months. And, celebrities most of the time aren't the ones behind social media. They always use a company. But at the end of the day, it's not up to us to "cancel" her for these decisions.
