No Billie or Taylor. OGH told me a BSO oscar was really easy to get and didn’t have any merit :billie:

Billie probably didn’t submit or can’t because the movie got pushed back. It’s probably gonna be used for next year. I can see it easily winning.

8. “Io Sì (Seen)” from “The Life Ahead (La Vita Davanti a Se)”

A beautiful song from a beautiful movie starring Sophia Loren. And it’s written by Diane Warren. She’s finally coming for her Oscar this year :diane:

It won’t be eligible next year.

why would either one be nominated? neither had eligible songs this year (only the young was written for the album Lover)

Miss Americana includes the new Swift song “Only the Young,” which is a contender for a best original song nod. The songwriting nod would go to Swift (and her collaborator, Joel Little)

Now I'm confused... Does anyone know something about this?

For me, the most logical thing is that the song should be eligible for this year's ceremony (regardless the movie being pushed back) since it was released during the elegible period for this year but Idk... with COVID maybe they'll made some modifications :oprah:

The song was not nominated this year because the movie has been delayed, and the song won’t be nominated next year because it didn’t come out within the eligibility period for the 2022 Oscars (aka it would be too old by then)

I'm pretty sure the movie needs to be released during the eligibility period, not the song.

Both the song and the movie must come out within the eligibility period. They won’t nominate a two year old song. I read this somewhere in a Variety article, I can’t find it but ill post it when I do.

they do not need to be though. it’s based on the eligibility of the film. the song’s release and writing is irrelevant, i recall in 2007 there was controversy over Falling Slowly (which won) having been released on two separate albums before the film came out but it was determined that the song was written specifically for the film that it was eligible.

just googled about NTTD’s eligibility, Variety says “If Billie Eilish does manage to maintain awards interest next year, she will still make history as the youngest songwriter in the category in Oscar history, as well as the youngest to provide a theme song for the James Bond franchise.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait for next year then :selena: I hope she wins though, it’s great to see young people succeeding :kara:
