Would Tony have done an album with Gaga if Amy Winehouse were still alive? I was just thinking about this. Amy's last recording was a duet with Tony for his second duets album and there were rumors at the time that he and Amy would record an album, though none of that was ever confirmed. Do you think Gaga would have had a album with Tony if Amy Winehouse was still alive? Thoughts?

Personally, I think Gaga and Tony bonded better and had a better relationship so I think absolutely Gaga and Tony would have still done an album together. I think Amy may have as well, though.

yes and

Well, if ARTPOP would've done better, we wouldn't get a jazz album in the first place :)

Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No

It was planned back in 2011 after Gaga did a duet for Tony's album

So the answer to the OP is yes, we would have. Tony loved Gaga's musical genius and he knew back then Gaga was capable of so much more. Jazz has always been apart of Gaga's life in one way or another. Fans need to accept this

Cheek to Cheek was already a planned thing in 2011/2012 when Troy Carter was her manager. So yeah definitely.

I remember her saying Bobby wasn't actually that crazy about the idea of a jazz album.

Hm, interesting! I think they still would have. They obviously get along very well, Gaga was excited to do jazz, and Tony’s done multiple duet projects anyway.

I will say though that I do think Tony felt some guilt about Amy (he basically said as much in an interview I remember, that he wonders if he could have done more for her), and that probably coloured his initial relationship with Gaga. Like he was probably extra determined to mentor her and watch out for her and take her under his wing.

Totally.  In 2011 Tony said this:
