I'm all for people having fun with makeup, but I don't understand why the drag queen look has become so popular. Contouring, highlighting etc are for drag queens who create exaggerated looks, and now they are mainstream makeup techniques for girls going to school.

Contouring (shading/highlighting) has beed done since the 20's in the film industry. Legend MUAs like Kevyn Aucoin implemented contouring in their looks. It doesn't always have to be exaggerated like drag queens. Hers for example is really defused and soft. Contouring has always existed, we just didn't know about it. It was a MUA "secret". Now it has become a lot more accessible to everyone, that's why it has become "mainstream" and you see it everywhere.

Also, for photo shootings, we MUAs mostly use full coverage foundations, so shading and bronzing the bone structure and the cheeks helps to bring a lil bit more life to the face, otherwise it'd look really washed out!

RIP SOPHIE 🤍

Because maybe it's not for you to dictate what other people find beautiful?

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
