Delulu 1,880
Hi, everyone! I wanted to share some of my thoughts and I know there's one too many threads about topics such as this one but it's gonna be rather long so I decided to make a thread of my own lol So, let's start from the beginning - at the beggining of her career (even before it) Gaga was obsessed with fame and its concept. Ironically enough an album called The Fame that's actually bashing its concept made her famous. That's what she wanted - exposure. Her creativity was at its peak and she put out single after single, video after video all the way to Born This Way which was her first (correct me if incorrect) go on spreading kindness - The Born This Way Foundation. After being torn by fame and her team during the BTWB she decided to release a big 'f*ck you' to the industry itself by releasing ARTPOP - a masterpiece which was so expressive, so unique and such a personal journey it wasn't really appreciated by the general public. I don't really think Gaga ever cared about what people are gonna say. At least at this point. That brings us to Cheek To Cheek - a fabulous album which doesn't really get the appreciation it deserves. If this album didn't exist and Gaga didn't meet Tony, she'd probably still be in the dark place she was during ARTPOP. Tony cured her in a way. Showed her a new fresh path which does not include the toxicity that's pop culture. A fresh beginning. After this Gaga did her first main role - AHS. She did it PERFECTLY. She did many cover performances - each one phenomenal. She regained the masses's respect as not just the weird pop girl but as a vocalist and an artist. That's when she started working on the original LG5 concept - the dark pop hits return. The reason she scrapped it is pretty clear to me - she has trauma connected with pop music in a way. Of course the main reason she scrapped it and started working on Joanne was her family - she decided to once again say '**** you' to the media and the public and decided to do what's right for her mental state - doing an album for herself and healing herself and her family (her dad mainly which didn't work sadly). After seeing it had no impact on them she once again fell in a dark space. She starred in A Star Is Born which again - got her a lot of respect. She WAS the main girl at the Oscars. During this period she worked on Chromatica and as we recently learnt - the sequel album to Cheek to Cheek which is coming this spring. As it's said in many of the interviews Bloodpop literally had to MAKE her go to the studio during the recordings of Chromatica. Was it authentic? Yeah. But it's mainly about the dark space she's been in. Is it covered in basic EDM Pop melodies? Yes. But imagine working on sad ballads while in this headspace. IMO that'd bring even more trauma. I guess making Chromatica pure pop had two reasons - appealing to the public and making the fanbase happy aand not drowning in this dark place. The melodies (sines) healed her as she herself said it. Am I suprised all the plans for the rollout were changed - no. This album isn't for you monsters. It was created in order for Gaga to heal. And I sure hope it worked out. After overworking herself non-stop (we all know she's never taken a proper break with no things in mind like EVER) she decided that instead of rescheduling everything and doing it another way - it was a sign to let her mentality and physical health rest a bit. Am I mad at this album not getting the proper rollout and promotion it deserved? Yeah. But I'm happy Gaga got to spend some alone time with her boyfriend and family and for once took a small break. Yes - Chromatica stuff may be happening in the future - but she took her break and now she's ready to do it. As a whole what I want to say is - now she's not just a pop girl. She's not the meat dress girl. I know some of you are mad at her for using her platform in a different way - spreading awareness of important stuff happening around us supposed to releasing music videos, performing and being everywhere but that's who she is now, at least for now I see it like that. She doesn't need to shock or make anyone happy and she's realised it. She has already gained her legendary status and it's untouchable. She is not a pop culture puppet. Is her posting only brand deals a good thing? No. But it's not up to her. She is contractually obligated to do that. As she probably also was with releasing an x number of singles, videos and performances. She did not plan things to take such a turn. If you're mad at the sponsored posts - unfollow her. I know someone's gonna say 'But why isn't she clear with us for such things. A tweet won't hurt.' Well are u sure about that? Remember the meltdowns and hateful comments u had when she postponed the album? I guess she thought putting out a statement about that would do more harm than good because she's probably restaring the era but doesn't still know when exactly. She doesn't wanna promise anything so she just doesn't say anything. Nothing's clear - probably not only to us but her too. Please, the next time u think about ranting hatefully over Chromatica's rollout being messy - think about how Gaga feels. Don't be as selfish as that. Be kind. So that was my TED talk, hope you don't get extra mad at me for sharing my opinion. f*** u pop music
Beatboom 948
Unfortunately the monsters will never change. We all know who they are. They only care about serves and sales and stats and streams and meta critic scores. The best thing to do is un follow them. Block them. I will never understand why they get get a kick out of dragging and criticising her. Either will she. Remember the tweet about not understanding the overflow of hate she gets when she cares so much about what she does? If that doesn't make them change, nothing will. Lady Gaga was never just a pop girl. From day one she was inserting lofty, ambitious, and wonderfully pretentious ideas about art and pop culture into pop music. She was never a pop culture puppet. She was the puppeteer. The meat dress is a perfect example of her masterfully crafting a moment for the press and public. It was art, it was politics, it was a performance, and yes it was fabulously shocking. The reason she is a legend, as you said, is because of her pop music and her role as a pop culture agitator. Not in spite of those things. We can celebrate her diversification as an artist (acting, jazz, etc.) without underplaying the significance of her earlier career. Great post, just disagree. Be mad if you want, Imma sit here and try not to finish a whole sleeve of Oreos while I bop to Chromatica OT: She's still the same woman I was a fan of in 2009/2010 and still the same crazy person I fell in love with in 2013. So she's more reserved? She's entitled to her privacy and I don't need 30 tweets a day to know she's still passionate, caring, creative, and intelligent 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼
