I'm Canadian and I had never heard of this guy until my partner told me about him. His lyrics are very controversial, even interpreted as racist and homophobic.

Except from Wikipedia article:

His lyrics are interpreted by some as anti-feminist, anti-LGBT, pro-white nationalism, and as apologism for NotAllMen.[3] MacDonald has denied the claim of being a racist or ever participating in 'racist activities

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if all the Trump white supremacists are the ones buying his music.

He should stick to Canada.

No, we don't want him either...

He is from Alberta, which is the whitest province and the most conservative socially... makes sense.

Yeah... there are lots of very progressive albertans, they just unfortunately get lost in the sea of right wing nuts.

Yes, he does. Have you even paid attention to the lyrics or just jumped on the hate train?

Or do you think that this part "It's more difficult to get a job than purchase a gun" is not true?

That lyric is true, but in the overall context of the song its kind of scary.

I'm not going to endorse a song filled with problematic dog whistles to the far right just because it has a couple reasonable observations sprinkled in as well.
