You're too smart for me to explain to you how defending yourself against hate speech, a crime, is not the same as telling people what food to put in their bodies when it is and will always be their freedom to do so It’s not about what food you put in your body. It’s about the industry itself and being complicit in the mistreatment of animals. If you were able to obtain meat that was chemically identical to meat that wasn’t obtained through slaughter vegans would not have a problem.

We can have a conversation about it after pigs, cows and other animals are no longer tortured in cages and killed after. Stop with these extreme examples. "Speciesism is the differing treatment or moral consideration of individuals based on their species membership. This involves treating members of one species as morally more important than members of other species in the context of their similar interests. " So killing a butterfly should be murder based on this definition no? Not that I think people should be randomly killing butterflies for no particular reason, but jailing someone for the murder of a human and not jailing someone for the murder of a butterfly means humans are seen as morally superior. And no rational person would suggest jailing someone over a butterfly. Yeah its extreme but I'm just pointing out why I think 'speciesism' is a flawed concept and impossible to enforce in any meaningful way. Do you feel him sir? You're too smart for me to explain to you how defending yourself against hate speech, a crime, is not the same as telling people what food to put in their bodies when it is and will always be their freedom to do so It’s the same logic, tho. It’s about hurting the innocent just for the sake of it. There’s no good reason why billions of animals are tortured every year for their meat/skin/fur/milk/etc. When we as human are advanced enough to go without all of that. We aren’t cavemen anymore. Look, I’m not saying that killing a dog is the same as committing a hate crime against a POC or an LGBTQ member. I’m saying that we, as a species, are capable of not doing either of those. And we should be more aware of how our actions affect others, both humans and animals.

The goal of veganism is animal liberation, not punitive laws for hypothetical butterfly killings. Veganism as a movement is not about “judging what another person eats” or totally eradicating speciesism and creating a world where animals are given the exact same protections as humans, but it is a movement that fights against the commodity status of animals. Maybe if PETA and their backers didn't act so superior to other humans who eat the diet that humans have had for millions of years and are genetically wired to desire, we'd actually have made progress. Meat eaters being less moral is not exactly an opinion. Humans are still evolving and can thrive on a plant based diet. In fact, the survival of the human race may depend on us drastically altering our diets.
