That's kind of like the people who say Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith prove that race doesn't actually hold people back.

Economy

Her hard work and ethic IS no doubt a huge part of the equation. To get famous and have ur success actually last (and not just some short term viral event) it does take talent and hard work to sustain

However let's not act like the entertainment isn't heavily swayed by looks. It's rare for an artist who is ugly to make it big especially among female artists

So her acting like her prettiness didn't help her... I dunno...

It's not like her acknowledging that takes away for the hard work she put into her career. But for some other woman reading this who isn't as pretty by society standards trying to make it in this industry and having that extra barrier it's kind of a slap in the face for her to suggest it wasn't a factor. We know full well it's ALWAYS a factor and a strong one too :enigma:

Hate to say this, but I experienced first hand that good looks change everything with how people treat you. And yes, it sure as hell is powerful.

I grew up very average looking, a typical guy wearing a shirt with a buzz cut. In high school I was a little chubby, in college I was slim. Over the past few years I got a new hair style, starting wearing nice clothes, and worked to get a fit and muscular body. I slowly did these things out of natural interest as I got older, not for a specific reason.

The way people treat me now and the things people say to me the past 2 years is absolutely mind-blowing. People are nicer to me. Cashiers are almost always friendly now. Doors get held open for me. If I ask for help, I usually get it with a smile. If I drop something, people will pick it up for me - even straight guys. Girls smile more at me and even random guys make an effort to have a conversation.

Overall, people are friendlier and I get respected more often. It makes me a bit angry of the reason why I'm getting treated better now, but it does feel nice. It also made me realize how much power attractive women have. It's unbelievable.

Does anyone remember this performance and the famous comment: "I love her lack of energy, go girl give us nothing!" :ladyhaha:

stage presence = 0

And yes, yesssss I know she has improved that, but watch Gaga´s 1st performances... and then compare.

Her appearance helped her get a job in music. If she wasn´t that pretty, she wouldn´t have come that far if you look at her lack of stage presence. It´s like she doesn´t even wanna be there. A lot of other artists seem a lot more hardworking and actually show that.

Well she is pretty. And I only repeated what "Gaga" has said in 5 foot 2 ...

You´re gonna have to live with the fact that people think Gaga is more talented in a Gaga forum. It will be the other way around if you´re in the Dua Lipa forum.

Except this topic has nothing to do with Gaga.

Playing an instrument is important if you´re in the music industry... that´s why Dua will always be a pop star but never a musician.

(you just pointed it out yourself) I´m not saying she is not talented; just not "as talented as" Gaga,  who is truly a musician.:huntyga:

Again this topic has nothing to do with Gaga so I don’t really see the relevance. Also no, playing instruments doesn’t mean **** for singers. Adele doesn’t play anything and that doesn’t mean she’s not talented or whatever you’re insinuating.

So your only purpose here is to compare her to Gaga? Lmao sad

You keep repeating me saying that she has no talent. I freaking never said it. Read again what I wrote, ok, darling? :huntyga:

Babe, you´re in the Gaga forum. Literally everything here has to do with Gaga and will be compared. :bear: And you know that. Apparently you´re not a Gaga fan.

This topic had nothing to do with Gaga and you not being on topic will be reported to mods. Have a great day!

You wanna report me for speaking my mind and having an opinion? Because I pointed out that (like a lot of the poeple on here and Gaga herself (in 5 foot 2) said) that prettier girls have it easier in life and  getting famous more easily than the "not so pretty folks"? This is what we have been talking about; it´s what this thread is about. And (again) I never said she is not talented. (just not as talented...)

When u open a thread like this, you have to accept that some people have different opinions than you.

pretty privilege exists and this statement basically tells us that she isn’t self aware

like i don’t deny that she did work very hard to get to where she is now but part of the reason is definitely because industry people thought she was good-looking enough to be a pop star
