If so, they can do it as fast as a day Conviction requires a 2/3 vote in the senate, they would need 17-19 GOP Senators to vote to convict (depending on if they’re sworn in on time). Which is a possibly but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I know several Republican senators would vote to convict (Romney, Murkowski, etc) but who knows if we’ll actually get enough. His days left in office are shorter than what impeachment will take. i think first and foremost because there must be some consequence for what the president did, no matter what. even if it fails or if the senate doesn't convict, his actions were so egregious that history must remember that a swift punitive reaction will befall a future president who attempts something similar.
